Personality

He's a weird egg. He's looking for something out there to protect and genuinely believes that he is the hero even if things he does seem off.

Background

Came from a messed up, twisted future. Hates his father and blames the destruction of the world on him. In order to be 'better', Reese gave up his humanity.. going to the path of becoming a synth -- accepting the TPU as well as the Legacy Engine. With these 'gifts', Reese has thrived on hunting 'special' bad beings and taking their abilities only to get stronger and defeat his father. Of course.. after the destruction of his world where his father AND his mother were gone.. Reese then had nothing. He wanted to be a hero and find someone who wasn't like him, a symbol of purity to protect. Now, his definition of heroics are incredibly skewed but he's trying and now he's coming to PARADIGM to be able to fulfill his 'duties'.

Powers & Merits

Reese has a resilient body that can take a beating, move faster, hit stronger and he also has enhanced regeneration (very similar to a supernatural creature, like a demon).

  • [Oblivion Ring] - A banishment spell designed to detain people, creatures, artifacts, and magical enchantments. When cast, the object or being disappears, and is represented by a symbol that resembles a circle writ in the air with mana. This ring then follows Reese around, containing the essence of the being or item within, which is frozen in time. If disenchanted, the ring shatters, and the occupant released. Can be resisted by powerful enemies that aren't weakened.
  • [Energy Barrage] - Tapping only minorly into the Legacy Engine, Reese can fire bolts of energy in rapid succession from his palms with varying strength, depending on how long he charges. This is not a spell.
  • [Final Spark] - Reese's ultimate attack. Using the full, unlocked power of the Legacy Engine, Reese focuses all of the magical power inside him into a single, enormous Holy elemental beam, several feet wide in scope and insanely powerful. The beam lasts for several seconds as the entirety of his mana is dumped into it.
  • [Counterspell] - Reese can outright will a spell out of existence with the power of the TPU, disassembling it from the aether.
  • [Misdirection] - Working similarly to Counterspell, Reese can take a spell in the air - or magical ability - and wrest control of the spell away from the caster entirely, flinging it to another target or targets.
  • [Blinding Light] With a snap of his fingers, Reese fills the immediate area with a crackle of displaced energy that seemingly has no source - the light floods the vision of anyone present. This serves to blind any non-Holy or divine creatures, as well as dealing moderate Holy damage to any specifically weak to Holy magic. The snap is required.
  • [Chain Lightning] Reese raises his hand to fire an arc of electricity at an opponent. It will chain to any nearby enemies, hitting up to 3 times.
  • [White Wind] Reese cures the entire party equal to the amount of health he currently has. Undead creatures do not get healed, but take no damage - demons are healed as normal. Non-elemental.
  • [Leviathan] Reese is able to summon the presence of the sea king himself, Leviathan. Leviathan is then able to send a torrent of heavy waves on an opponent (like an ocean tsunami wave) upon a foe (or foes).
  • [Neo Bahamut] Reese is able to summon the presence of the New Dragon King, Neo Bahamut. Reese along with the foe are suddenly teleported high into the sky on a single piece of earth (whatever earth they were last standing on) as the dragon king appears. A giant wave of non-elemental magical power is then blasted from the dragon king's mouth, breaking apart the earth and sending the foe back down to the ground.

Merits

  • Graceful (2): You are extremely agile and delicate in your movements. +1 Bonus on all Athletics rolls.
  • Self-Confident (5): One free successful roll during a mission, due to the strength of your self-confidence. This only comes into effect regarding rolls at difficulty 6 or higher. As with other rolls, this does not apply in direct opposition combat (as your enemy is probably just as sure of himself as you are, also we don't roll to hit or dodge), but when it's time to get something done, you -know- it comes down to you. NOTE: To clarify, if a non-combat related roll happens during a fight (spot checks, trying to sneak away, etc), Self-Confident can be used. It's only for a roll off (Ex. Izu vs Izumi, both punch, roll to see who hits) that Self-Confident doesn't apply.

Weaknesses & Flaws

Reese is INCREDIBLY protective and passionate about what is HIS. If anything he thinks is 'his' is being threatened, he will take it not well. At all.

Flaws

Disturbing Mannerism (2): You have a habit or character trait which is peculiar, gross, or annoying. You may not even be aware of it-but everyone else is. Penalties of social rolls are increased at the GM's discretion. (he has bloody bandages on a lot.)

Isolated Upbringing (1): You were raised in a very unique society, or were somehow otherwise sequestered away from "normal" life, so you have trouble dealing with this Outside-World thing. Dealing with any community outside the one in which you were raised raises a -1 Penalty on Social rolls, when RP'ing accomodates it. This can lead to quite a bit of problems of the non comedic type in this kind of setting.

Masochist/Sadist (1): You either enjoy pain or enjoy inflicting it on others. In addition to the inconveniences this fascination may cause you, you may also be seen as sick (and, well you are), or even more sick people may use you for your obsession. People noticing this will have a VERY poor view of your character and cast them in a harsh light, and you may not simply 'ignore it because it'd cause too many problems.' Being a sadist marks you as such and a masochist will make people lose respect for you.

Otherworldly Taint (2): You have a physical peculiarity (odd hair/eye color, glowing eyes, etc.) and/or just an odd aura about you which may make you stick out. Someone who suspects you're not "normal" may make an Alertness roll, difficulty 7, to determine what you are.

Addiction (1): You are addicted to some substance, such as caffeine, nicotine, etc. You will start to crave the substance if you don't get it often enough, and have to spend time and money to counter it. The larger the flaw, the more dependent you are on the substance, and the worse things will happen if you don't get what you need. After jonesing for long enough all your rolls are at -1 Penalty. -2 if a three point flaw. A one point flaw will never incur penalties, but you should start RP'ing out how badly you need a drink or smoke and be easily distracted by that very idea. Reese is addicted to 'adrenaline' like things. He wants whatever will give him a rush.
