The Mishima Financial Group, unofficially known as the Mishima Zaibatsu (三島財閥), is a giant multinational conglomerate.

History

Formerly known as Tekken Zaibatsu/Tekken Corporation (name changed after Jinpachi Mishima lost the Zaibatsu to his son), it was owned originally by Jinpachi Mishima, but the Zaibatsu was taken over by Heihachi Mishima, who has run the company for over 40 years, except for two brief interims. The companies grouped together in the syndicate include the Mishima Financial Empire, the mercenary group known as Tekken Force, and Mishima Industries. The Mishima Zaibatsu is the main sponsor of The King of Iron Fist Tournaments. Before the Fifth Tournament, Jinpachi Mishima regained control of the Mishima Zaibatsu. However, Jinpachi was defeated by Jin Kazama during The Fifth King of Iron Fist Tournament, and Jin gained control of the Zaibatsu.
The constant change of ownership of the Mishima Zaibatsu is one of the company's many little quirks. To date, there are five changes of ownership known:

  • Several decades before the first King of Iron Fist Tournament: Jinpachi Mishima lost the Tekken Corp. to his son, Heihachi Mishima.
  • First King of the Iron Fist Tournament: Heihachi lost the Zaibatsu to his son, Kazuya Mishima.
  • Second King of the Iron Fist Tournament: Kazuya lost the Zaibatsu to his father Heihachi.
  • Third King of the Iron Fist Tournament: Heihachi remains as the owner.
  • Fourth King of the Iron Fist Tournament: Heihachi remains as the owner.
  • Between the Fourth and Fifth King of the Iron Fist Tournament: Jinpachi reclaims the Zaibatsu after Heihachi is assumed. dead
  • Fifth King of the Iron Fist Tournament: Jinpachi lost the Zaibatsu to Jin Kazama.
  • Sixth King of the Iron Fist Tournament: Jin Kazama remains as the owner.

Purpose

The Mishima Zaibatsu has had many goals over the years. However, they tend to change with the desire of the owners. Heihachi was content with expanding his personal power base, and Kazuya followed in his father's footsteps. Jinpachi sought to use the Zaibatsu as a power base and a trap to 'deal with' his offspring and descendants.
Jin Kazama has systematically used the Mishima Zaibatsu to stage hostile corporate and physical takeovers of several corporations and small industrialized nations, using the Tekken Force as his combat backbone.
Financially, the Mishima Zaibatsu is involved in a little of everything, specifically as an umbrella company and in Heavy Industries businesses. However, they have been expanding literally every year, attempting a complete global takeover.

Tekken Force

The Mishima Zaibatsu has a fighting force division, the Tekken Force. Much like the Umbrella Special Forces, they are a corporate, private army, equipped with top of the line technology and trained to perform like any nation's special forces. They are equipped with fully covering body armour, CQC handy assault rifles like SCAR variants, and personal computers and scanners in their helmets. The Tekken Force is a dangerous opponent for any military force to get in conflict with, and they are mercilessly drilled by the owners of the Zaibatsu.

Trivia

  • All current and former owners of the Zaibatsu are related by blood, meaning that only descendants of Jinpachi have been able to win the King of Iron Fist Tournaments thus far.
  • There are other characters involved with the Mishima Zaibatsu besides the Mishima clan. Ganryu worked as a bodyguard for it when both Heihachi and Kazuya were in control. Anna Williams and Bruce Irvin had also worked as bodyguard in the Mishima Zaibatsu for Kazuya before later siding with his G Corporation. Nina Williams and Eddy Gordo are in the employ of the Zaibatsu when Jin took over.
  • There are multiple victims of what the Mishima Zaibatsu has done. Michelle Chang's tribe was attacked by Heihachi's orders for its sacred amulet and her mother was later captured on Kazuya's command to get the treasure. Kazuya also was the one who had Eddy's parents killed and he also ordered Doctor Boskonovitch kidnapped. Miguel Caballero Rojo lost his sister when Jin had a conquest in Spain. Rochefort Enterprises, a Monaco-based petroleum company owned by Mr. Rochefort, was business partners with the Mishima Zaibatsu until Jin took over the company's oil fields.
  • Rival of G Corporation.
  • Robbed by the Manji Clan.
