Appearance

Julian is a strikingly handsome young man with white hair and unique blue eyes. While he doesn't make an especially imposing figure, especially wearing suits and ties at most times, he in in fact, shredded when you take his shirt off. He looks reasonably athletic, and usually wears a pair of glasses. When the weather is appropriate, he wears a long scarf with him, which he finds add to his dapper look. He usually carries with him a pair of fingerless biker gloves for reasons only known when it's time to get motivated.

Personality

Prim and proper young British gentleman. Always polite, always at attention, and always one word away from mercilessly snarking until you cry.. if you act improper. Or cough in public more than twice.While he behaves properly at all times, Julian is also very much a fan of Japanese culture and lifestyles, one step away from applying them to his everyday life, regardless of the situation, so long as it isn't improper. But he'll certainly tell you about it at length. A fascination for the Japanese mindset, customs and the Samurai aesthetic is always part of his life, with most of his spare cash going into decorative or functional Sengoku era paraphenelia.

Background

Nero and Kyrie eventually settled down and had a child. That was Julian. They were very good parents, considering how doting Nero is towards Kyrie. Julian grew up surrounded by the ideals of both the Order of the Sword (their message more than their actions) and Devil May Cry, with Kyrie making sure her son was a respectable and well-behaved young man. He was sent to the best schools, made a few friends, and was introduced to the bane of any parents' life. Anime. From there, Julian became fascinated with Japanese entertainment, and further past that, the culture and history of its people, especially the warrior castes of times past, like the Samurai.
In his early adolescence he started begging his parents to let him go study abroad in Japan, and after considering that cultural exchange would be better for him, they arranged for Julian to spend his summers abroad, learning about the language, the culture, and even the fighting style, with Nero actually adding an iaijutsu training regimen to Julian's regular sword training, something he took much more to heart than he had with the Red Rose. Between his studies at a prestigious school in London, and his cultural exchanged abroad, Julian learned many different ways to be proper and well behaved, something that pleased his mother just fine, and made his father think 'well, at least he can back it up if someone puts him down'.
During a major demonic outbreak in Berlin, the Vatican's Iscariot Order contacted Julian, as a disposable asset if things were to go wrong, to send him in to deal with the outbreak while they got their forces ready. The suddenness of the situation had forced their hands, and without Paladins to send in, a boy from the Order of the Sword would have to do. If he died fighting, well, he wasn't a true Catholic, so no big loss, and rumors of his demonic heritage (due to ties with Devil May Cry) made it easy to justify using him that way. Julian of course jumped at the chance to make a name for himself, and hopped on the first train to Germany, with his sword in tow, to go help deal with the situation. While embroiled in the demonic onslaught there, he encountered Enzo, in their first official meeting as fighters.
During this encounter, both boys fell through the Hell Gate in their attempt to seal it. While it succeeded, they were declared missing after the fury had died down and other groups (such as the Hellsing Organization and the Iscariot Order) had moved in to contain what was left of the fallout, leading their parents into a frantic search to find out where their sons had gone. After a few weeks, the pair returned from wherever they had gone, carrying new and better weapons. Julian had somehow gotten his hands on the Dimensional Cutting Blade, Yamato. His parents were too happy to see him alive to ask too many questions, which was good because Julian didn't really have any answers to give about it. Before too long, however, he'd contacted Enzo again, and they started working together, operating as a pair of supernatural exterminators/detectives, as often debunking hoaxes, as exorcising a haunting, as simply killing unknowable beings from a higher dimension whose true form would rend the mind of a strong and healthy man.
Or as they call it, a day that ends in 'y'.

Special Abilities

Special Abilities: These abilities are part of Julian's 'conventional' abilities, things that could be taught to anyone, that have little to do with his demonic heritage.
Wall Jump: Julian's leg strength and training allow him to hop off a wall and either away from it or upwards to land on the side of a small wall, or just reach a high window.
Air Hike: Julian can hop off Devil/Magical Energy in mid air, essentially allowing him to double jump at will.
Enemy Step: Julian can leap and flip off an enemy's body after a jump.

Combat Styles: Julian has spent enough of his days training to fight, both trying to live up to his heritage, as well as indulge in his passion for Japanese culture, spending many a summer learning how to fight like the Samurai he so admires.
Kenjutsu: Julian has practiced under several masters of traditional Japanese Kenjutsu, though if pressed, he will say his style is that of Mugai-ryu, the style of Outer Nothingness. When fighting, his focus increases tenfold and the blade is merely a part of his body. To Julian, his Mugai-Ryu is a style of Zen meditation and self-improvement, and he is confident in the belief that through his sword he can find both enlightenment and personal development.

  • Rising Dragon Slash: Julian takes a step forward and launches into the air with his Katana, slashing upwards at airborne enemies, or alternately, taking a grounded enemy in the air with him as he does.
  • Dragon Hammer Slash: Julian, from an elevated position, comes slashing down with his Katana onto his enemy's head or shoulder, intending to either bisect them or crash them down into the ground. Hard.
  • Dragon Coil Slash: Julian, if surrounded by enemies, will step forward and slash outwards, aiming to strike behind an opponent's head or back. He can also deliver this strike against several opponents around him, and aim lower, such as below the knee.
  • Dragon Fang Stab: Holding the blade parallel to his body, Julian instantly stabs forward at incredible speeds and smashes his full strength into a single point, lunging forward at incredible speeds. When he connects, his strike releases his full energy into the point of impact, cause tremendous, instant damage, usually allowing him to bypass or at least damage someone's guard. This is Julian's take on the classic 'Stinger' technique used by his bloodline.

Iaijutsu: Julian has studied Mugai-Ryu's Iaijutsu styles, Jikyo-ryu and Mugai-Ryu Iai Hyodo. He uses a very quick style that adds to this universal focus when he fights this way, including having learned several stances and attacks of Battou-jutsu. Much like his regular Kenjutsu, this Iaijutsu technique puts him in a very Zen state of mind, attempting to become one with the universe as he empties himself and focuses only on the act in reaction to his surroundings and people about him. He knows both Iaijutsu and Battoujutsu techniques.

Boxing: As a young lad going to British academies, Julian was limited in his availability of combat sports. Wrestling wasn't his thing, and fencing was so outclassed by Superior Japanese Swordsmanship, that he had no interest or reason for it. As such, he joined the boxing club, and quickly became an academy champion. Between his enhanced abilities and natural finesse, Julian became rapidly professional level at boxing. He specializes in the Counter-Punching and Swarming styles, staying in close and barely avoiding hits before countering with quick, decisive, and highly precise strikes, or unleashing a flurry of blows once he can take an advantage in a fight, which for him, is basically anytime someone moves.

Weapons Expertise: Julian has dabbled in the use of a few different weapons, though, outside of his Japanese influence, primarily with European swords. He is well versed in Bastard swords and Knightly weapons, including the Mace, enough to actually fight with them if he has to. His focus on Japanese weapons has also extended to learning the basics of fighting with twin smaller blades like the Kodachi and the Nagitana as a weapon. He also knows how to shoot a gun, but has barely ever had to, so he is unsure of his aim, and prefers not to use them.

Powers & Merits

Partial Devil: Julian is actually partially a devil, making him incredibly resilient and viciously strong, but mostly, amazingly quick and sharp. His strength, reflexes and endurance are superhuman, and he can take immense amounts of punishment without slowing down. While he still takes 'damage', per se, he cannot suffer wounds, and can hold his breath for almost an hour under water, as the case may be.

Dark Slayer Style: Julian's Dark Slayer is his most effective movement tool, allowing him to reposition himself on the battlefield by teleportation. These abilities allow Julian to close and create distance as needed. They also have the added benefit of very limited invincibility because Julian is momentarily off the field during the teleports. A well timed Air Trick can allow Julian to avoid oncoming attacks without changing his position. This is essentially combat teleportation, though its repeated use is limited. There is a 'cool down' period. Julian can't teleport spam, he can just move twice then needs to have a break, or make 'leaps' forward instead of running. It's faster but not by much, as he loses momentum.

  • Trick Up: Julian can vanish and reappear about 20 feet up. This allows him to catch up to enemies who are higher than he can reach with just a jump.
  • Trick Down: From the air, Julian can disappear and reappear directly near an opponent, or on the ground without making a sound. He loses all momentum as he does, allowing him to land on something without disturbing it.
  • Air Trick: In the air, Julian can teleport forward, or at an angle, towards a goal or an opponent, about 20-30 feet. He is not actually 'there' as he teleports, and this CAN allow him to bypass non-magical barriers.
  • Ground Trick: Julian can teleport in front of, or directly behind, an opponent. He can cross a lot more ground (heh) this way than his previous attacks. This is also how Julian can avoid an attack with pinpoint accuracy, by teleporting for a split second and reappearing where he was.

Summoned Swords: Summoned Swords are magically generated blades resembling Kodachi. Julian eschews the use of guns in general, so he can instead focus his innate power, and that of his Devil Arms, to summon swords.. as one would expect.. and use them to launch at his opponent. They weigh nothing and move as fast as arrows, allowing Julian to keep using them even when doing other things, such as fighting with his Katana or his Gauntlets.

  • Spiral Swords: Creates a ring of Summoned Swords around Julian that acts as a shield. Depletes the D.T. Gauge.
  • Swords Storm: Countless swords surround an enemy, then attack all at once, launching them in the air. Activated after Spiral Swords. Depletes the D.T.Gauge.
  • Blistering Swords: Create swords around you that launch themselves at your enemy one after another. Activated after Spiral Swords. Depletes the D.T. Gauge.
  • Heavy Rain Swords: Creates a deadly rainfall of Summoned Swords above your enemy's head, which temporarily stops them. Depletes the D.T. Gauge. Does not require further setup.
  • Game of Thrones Swords: Creates a bunch of Summoned Swords shaped like a chair and sits on them, resting casually on the sheathed Yamato and looks smug like only a British lad can. Used for Taunting.

Devil Trigger: Julian transforms into a Devil, using his full power, which increases his strength, endurance, and especially speed far beyond his normal means, for a limited time. Devil Trigger also comes with the following benefits. He can turn for 3 minutes.
Elemental Attribute: Darkness. Julian will take less damage in general but dish out a lot more, especially to enemies weak to Darkness.
Enhanced Swords: Julian's Summoned Swords become as fast as lightning bolts, and triple the number of them appear.
Regeneration: Julian's regeneration kicks in at full blast when in DT mode, and wounds will heal really fast, as well as regain lost vitality/life energy.
Devil Trigger Blast: Julian can store his DT energy for about 2 minutes (and sacrificing that much of his DT time), then release all of it in a massive explosion around him, causing incredible damage to any nearby enemy, and leaving him in DT mode for one minute.

Unique Items

Devil Arm: Yamato: Dimension Slashing Katana. Yamato is a katana with an ornate bronze guard; the exact details of how it looks change throughout the series. In the first Devil May Cry, the Tsuka (柄? lit. "handle") has the traditional gold wrapping, with black ornaments, and the Tsuba (鍔? lit. "guard") is octagonal. In later installments, the guard is an oval, and the tsuka-ito seems to be braided from white and dark blue material. The blade features several intricate ornaments, most notable is a relief of a dragon at the endpoint of the hilt. The scabbard is black, made of traditional lacquered wood, and features several metallic ornaments on its far end.
Yamato is far sharper than ordinary blades, and is imbued with tremendous demonic power. The sword is said to be able to cut through anything, even the very fabric of space itself. The only things capable of stopping Yamato's strikes are objects powered by demonic energy comparable to the user's, such as the Rebellion or individuals powered by the Sword of Sparda. However, when the user is weakened, the sword's ability to cut through most mundane objects fades.

  • Yamato Techniques: These are techniques used by Julian while using the Yamato. Note that most of these can be used with any Katana, but the power of the Yamato makes them far more efficient with it.
  • Yamato Combo A: Four hit Yamato combo used by Vergil and now Julian.
  • Yamato Combo B: Send an enemy flying, then follow-up a Summoned Sword attack.
  • Yamato Combo C: Annihilate your enemy with a countless number of slashes.
  • Aerial Rave A: A multiple sword strike combo that deals devastating damage to airborne enemies.
  • Aerial Rave B: Carve up an enemy with a spinning slash, then send them crashing down.
  • Upper Slash: Launch enemies into the air with an upward strike from Yamato.
  • Rapid Slash: Dash forward, relentlessly slashing everything in your path. Like a Stinger attack but with a series of slashes all around Julian. Can only be used with the Yamato.
    • Rising Star: A spiral cut that lifts both you and your opponent into the air.
  • Judgement Cut: Yamato's signature technique, in which Julian uses a battoujutsu faster than most eyes can follow, then sheathes the blade, unleashing the devastation of this attack. The attack itself appears as a vortex of purple energy in which slashes with a blue glow form inside. While in the air, Julian is stationary while using a similar stance as when on the ground. When using the perfect Judgement Cut, Julian stands in place and instantly releases the attack, and the vortex has more slashes in it. A midair perfect Judgement Cut looks the same but is released instantly. Can only be used with the Yamato.
    • Judgement Cut - The End: Devil Trigger Form Only. This unleashes Judgement cut in a wide area all around Julian, in a 360 degree sphere around him, striking at all enemies in the area, with much harder force and damage than the regular Judgement Cut. However, using this instantly depletes all of Julian's devil power, reverting him back to normal. Can only be used with the Yamato.

Devil Arm: Demogorgon: High Explosive Gauntlets. The Demogorgon is a rather quick set of gauntlets which nonetheless build up explosive energy the more Julian uses them. While they start off with relatively weak striking power (by Fist Devil Arm Standards), they gather power the longer the fight goes, with every hit adding more and more explosive demonic power to each strike, as if building kinetic impact and releasing it, harder, faster, stronger, and better. These are only a punching weapon, and stop gathering energy if another Devil Arm or body part is used, meaning it needs to be committed to when in action. After building up energy for a long enough time, Julian can release it all in a single burst of power.

  • Butterfly: Popularized by Cassius Clay, AKA Muhammad Ali, when in a boxing stance, Julian remains on the defensive and mostly blocks and lets opponents punches roll over him, allowing him to reposition himself and minimize damage before..
    • Bee: Using the momentum of his movements and delivering a powerful, guard-bypassing strike. Despite the names of these techniques coming from Ali, Julian uses a technique more based on Floyd Mayweather, Jr., being an adept counterpuncher rather than a brawler. Due to the Explosive nature of the Demogorgon, the longer Julian dodges, the more devastating the counterpunches.
  • Rolling Thunder: The Dempsey Roll: Rolling Thunder is a technique used by Julian where he lowers his stance and central balance and begins to aggressively weave his body in a pattern similar to the shape of a figure eight. Julian then fires a series of rapidly executed punches from either left or right whilst continuing his bobbing and weaving. The Demogorgon's energy enhances these punches, each of them striking more and more aggressively, though if interrupted or countered, the explosive energy dissipates, meaning this technique needs to be perfectly timed.
  • Rocket Upper: When sufficiently powered up with explosive energy, Julian can unleash a series of powerful rising uppercuts, the explosions propelling him forward and with repeated strikes at the opponent, with the final hit releasing all the newly gathered explosive energy. The drawback is than this move isn't able to be cancelled when begun, and if he misses, he is wide open.
  • Strangest Thing: When the Demogorgon's energy is filled, Julian and choose to release in in one of two ways. He can strike the ground and unleash a rising shockwave of energy erupting around him, or he can punch the ground and have all of the energy explode outwards from under his target (up to 10 feet away). This draws from Julian's Devil Energy, and the Demogorgon must also be at peak energy charge (Read: Can't open with this, fight has to go on for a bit).

Enchanted Tea Set: Wonderland: A magical tea set that always has boiling hot tea ready to serve. Julian uses this in battle, summoning it as he sits on a throne made of summoned swords, having a spot of tea while his enemy recovers, offering him a cup.

Merits

Code of Honor (1pt): Julian is a practitioner of both the Mugai-Ryu style of Zen Kenjutsu and the teachings of the Order of the Sword. He follows a style of Bushido in regards to combat, philosophy, and how to deal with demons. He strives to fight with honor and discipline, as well as use his training to further indulge in his mental and spiritual growth through Kenjutsu. (Details to come later)
Eidietic Memory (2pts): Julian never forgets anything. This is why he's so good at Japanese cultural facts and demonology. But this applies to practically anything. His Zen focus allows him to recall details from a room he's seen once in passing down to the number of petals on each of the flowers on the sheet print.
Danger Sense (3pts): Between his demonic heritage, his preternatural reflexes, his training of oneness with the blade and his surroundings, and his general luck, Julian almost never gets caught unawares, and usually reacts in time with the right Trick or Iai.
Crack Driver (1pts): There's a reason he made money street racing other people's cars. That reason is Tokyo Drifting.

Items Of Note

Tinted Glasses: Noteworthy only in that they are, in fact, there to offset the telltale color of his eyes.
High Quality Samurai Gauntlet and Greaves: When using Yamato, or any other Katana, Julian prefers to wear authentic Samurai arm guards, even over his western European clothes. As such, he has a few pairs of them for combat, ready when he needs to use them.
Various Japanese Paraphenalia: Julian is an avid Japanophile, and loves little more than to indulge in buying decorative or functional Japanese trinkets, books and scrolls.

Weaknesses & Flaws

Devil: Julian is part devil. As such, Holy attacks and barriers wreak fair amounts of havoc on him. He can use special 'Holy Water' and other such weapons, but on his own he is very vulnerable to them if they're turned on him. Healing or not, Holy attacks will cause MASSIVE damage and the wounds will not heal easily, if at all, without help.

Flaws

Bound (5pts): Julian is in some fairly serious debt to some fairly serious individual. Can't keep the reaper away forever.
Group Emnity: Demons (2pts): The name 'Sparda' does not inspire confidence or happiness from the demonic types. Ever.
