SPECIAL ABILITIES, POWERS

The Book of Iod.

Earconwald is a Grimoire, and has several abilities linked to his forms.
Grimoire: Earconwald is a Grimoire. He can turn into a book, and empower any device he is linked to. He also grants any magus or sorcerer additional power, increasing their capacities exponentially. Even a beginning sorcerer can challenge masters if empowered by Earconwald.
Bonding: Linked to the above. Earconwald can make a contract with any sorcerer who wishes to, increasing their magical power, adding his spells to theirs, and generally making them far more powerful.

Servant Mode

Magic: As a Grimoire, Earconwald is able to channel and generate immense amounts of magical energy. He can fly, generate barriers, and generate magical attacks, as well as summon familiars, conjure spirits and various other spells empowered by the Old Gods. However, to use these requires massive concentration and loss of power, which is why he needs to be bonded to someone to fully use his spells. Without a master, a powerful direct attack can only be used ONCE, then he has a long cooldown time, making it good for escaping but not much worth in direct confrontation.
The Hunt: Earconwald can transform his pages into several shadowy beasts of prey, which will track down and hunt any escaping enemy, and attempt to tear them down and eat them. This can also be used for a full frontal attack in one on one combat. He cannot use this spell without a Master more than once, then he is completely drained.

Magius Mode

If Earconwald makes a contract with a master, he will be able to become a chibi and grant them the following abilities.
Magius Form: By fusing with their Grimoire, the sorcerer can take the Magius form, expanding their magical power and granting them the following abilities.

  • Magius Wing: Physical manifestation of the Flight spell. The Grimoire's pages turn into wings and can be used for complete flight.
  • A Spell of Shielding: Magical barrier, which the sorcerer can use to deflect or resist incoming attacks, both magical and mundane.
  • Mana Blast: Simple but effective, an attack of pure magic. The sorcerer can fire these at low cost and with no casting required.
  • Shining Hunter: A magical long range weapon, currently in the form of a handgun or bow, which can fire powerful blasts of magic at an opponent, and shapechange between a handgun (for quick encounters and shorter-range combat) and a bow, for longer range or sniping. The weapon never misses (though it can be dodged), and can fire either multiple shots like a machine gun, or split off into multiple arrows to rain down on the target.

Magius Form Spells: These powers can be used when the sorcerer is fused with his Grimoire, in Magius form.

  • Eater of Souls: Earconwald can generate a field extending from the master, which will trace lines along the ground. Anyone who steps on these lines will get their life force drained and sucked up by the master.
  • Bells of Horror: Earconwald's master can create sonic cannons, and generate an incredibly powerful soundwave, hitting like a wall of force and possibly deafening enemies around them. It can also be used more subtly, to disrupt concentration and focus, inflict nausea and loss of equilibrium.
  • The Black Kiss: By touching an intended victim, Earconwald's master can infect their body with a curse, allowing the master to control their bodies. This is impermanent, and can be dispelled, but the afflicted will have to obey the commands given to them. This takes over the victim's BODY, not their mind, and as such no amount of will power can be used to resist. However, mental abilities of the victim may not be used if the target resists.
  • The Invaders: Earconwald's All or Nothing move. He can generate several mechanical insects made from his pages, which lessen the armor on his Master, but attempt to devour the enemies from the inside out. This attack is very powerful but mostly physical, and leaves the master defenseless while active.

NOTABLE ITEMS

Occult Library: Earconwald's Master, as does any Grimoire owner, gets the Merit of Occult Library and all associated benefits.
He is a Notable Item, the Book of Iod.

WEAKNESSES

Bonding: A Grimoire is quite powerful, but unless bonded, it is generally purposeless and inactive. Its power is also considerably limited compared to its full potential without a magus with them. He cannot use most of his powers more than once with any relative worth more than once without a master. He may act like a Boss, but he really IS a servant without a master.
Completion: The Book of Iod is complete, but severe damage can cause it to lose some of its pages, lessening the power of the actual Grimoire in both forms.
Dirty Old Man: Earconwald is an old man, acts like one, and is quite the pervy old man.
