SPECIAL ABILITIES, POWERS

Ponape Scriptures Cover

Dymphna is a Grimoire, the Ponape Scripture. She automatically has the following abilities.
Grimoire: Dymphna is a Grimoire. She can turn into a book, and empower any device she is linked to. She also grants any magus or sorcerer additional power, increasing their capacities exponentially. Even a beginning sorcerer can challenge masters if empowered by Dymphna.
Bonding: Linked to the above. Dymphna can make a contract with any sorcerer who wishes to, increasing their magical power, adding her spells to theirs, and generally making them far more powerful.

Servant Mode

Ponape Scriptures Back

Magic: As a Grimoire, Dymphna is able to channel and generate immense amounts of magical energy. She can fly, generate barriers, and generate magical attacks, as well as summon familiars, conjure spirits and various other spells empowered by the Old Gods. However, to use these requires massive concentration and loss of power, which is why she needs to be bonded to someone to fully use her spells. Without a master, a powerful direct attack can only be used ONCE, then he has a long cooldown time, making it good for escaping but not much worth in direct confrontation.
Zanthu's Blessing: Dymphna's powerful attack, her pages turn into leaves and trees, growing and trying to impale into anyone around her. If she does, the plant will root into the victim and start drinking their blood like it were water, replenishing her magic. This attack REQUIRES Dymphna to have a Master, or she simply cannot take the risk of wasting her magic to this degree.. With a Master, this spell can be used offensively and defensively but takes time to complete.

Magius Mode

As a Grimoire, Dymphna is able to form a pact with a Master, and with that master, she is able to grant them the following abilities.
Magius Form: By fusing with their Grimoire, the sorcerer can take the Magius form, expanding their magical power and granting them the following abilities.

  • Magius Wing: Physical manifestation of the Flight spell. The Grimoire's pages turn into wings and can be used for complete flight.
  • Barrier: Magical barrier, which the sorcerer can use to deflect or resist incoming attacks, both magical and mundane.
  • Mana Blast: Simple but effective, an attack of pure magic. The sorcerer can fire these at low cost and with no casting required.
  • Staff of Ythogtha: Among the pages of the Ponape Scripture, details of the Old One Ythogtha are written, as well as the staff of his High-Priest, cursed with runes carved in Naacal along the length of it. The head of the staff has a single, bulbous eye, and tendrils snake along the staff. It can become a trident for stabbing into an opponent (or become one after stabbing), but its main capacities are increasing the sorcerer's magical power and being able to strike through any shadow. It can also snake around the sorcerer's body, to be basically invisible and easy to carry.

Magius Form Spells: These powers can be used when the sorcerer is fused with his Grimoire, in Magius form.

  • Secrets of Mu: Dymphna is able to make her master completely undetectable, essentially erasing them from reality for a moment. However, in this situation, the master's perception of reality is also altered, and while s/he can move around, s/he can't interact with anything, or really see anyone. This is more of a defensive power than super stealth, but it can save a master's life if hunted by powerful enemies. They WILL soon ignore him and move on.
  • Dagon's Call: Dymphna's master can control the power of water, and use it in any form, from a simple mist, to a powerful freezing strike, and, if close to a water source, even call forth a tidal wave or a tsunami with enough magical power. The presence of water is essential for any power of this spell. However, any water or ice based attack is useless against her master in Magius mode. They will simply ignore the effects, and even a water-elemental themed attack will cause no damage, even from the weapon/strike used.
  • Curse of Cycadea: The magius can generate endless amounts of plant-based attacks. Pollens, vines, even generating and animating trees and other plantlife to attack all opponents with vicious and deadly effect, as well as making their toxins lethal to any form of being, such as humans or elephants. This is an all-out-attack mode, burning through magical power rather quickly and transforming the pages of the Grimoire into its weapons, but a more powerful magius can keep up the attack for a good, long while. (Think fighting Dr. Octopus. Or Kurama.)

NOTABLE ITEMS

Occult Library: Dymphna's Master, as does any Grimoire owner, gets the Merit of Occult Library and all associated benefits.
She is a Notable Item, the Ponape Scripture.

WEAKNESSES

Bonding: A Grimoire is quite powerful, but unless bonded, it is generally purposeless and inactive. Its power is also considerably limited compared to its full potential without a magus with them. She cannot use most of her powers more than once with any relative worth more than once without a master. She may act like a queen, but she really IS a servant without a master.
Completion: The Ponape Scriptures are mostly complete, but severe damage can cause it to lose some of its pages, lessening the power of the actual Grimoire in both forms.
Bossy: Dymphna considers herself a queen, as one of the oldest grimoires (after Etheldreda. As such, she acts like a proper lady with bossy tendencies.
