Description

Acalypha.png

Acalypha has several thousand inhabitants, and is a merchant-focused city that has been prosperous in magic since the ancient area. It's reputation is supported by the fact that the town houses Soaring Heights, arguably the strongest guild in Dallurn. Located in the southeastern part of Dallurn, the city is connected to the sea and surrounded of lush forest and mountain. It's connected to the bulk of the kingdom's eastern stretch by rail. Acalypha possesses a large built-up area, extending over rectangular surface to the shores of the ocean. Splitting the town vertically and horizontally is a series of large roads. The whole place is western in style, with its buildings being mildly reminiscent of tidy Medieval ones. Located almost in the middle of the town, overlooking Central Path, a horizontal road where events and parades are held, is Kardia Cathedral, one of Acalypha's most distinctive landmarks. In the northernmost part of the city, sitting on the shore of ocean, is Soaring Height's building; to the west, on a hill overlooking the built-up area, is the guild's secondary dormitory, Soaring Hills. In the southeastern section of the city is the train station, which, to the west, has the Half Crane Hotel Bar, a toy store, and a magic shop; north from the station, on the town's western border, is the entrance to the park.

Location Details

  • Soaring Heights Guild Hall: A large castle-like structure, second only to the Kardia Cathedrel in size, houses the guild Soaring Heights. The main courtyard is walled off, though generally open to the public except during specific closures. Out front are a small handful of market stands where some of the more entrepreneurial members sell trinkets created by the guild, or even guild paraphernalia! Ever wanted a doll of your favorite member? WAIT NO LONGER. Just through the main double-doors is a large mess hall where the guild spends most of their downtime messing around and having fun. Along one wall of it is a full bar for food and drink, with a performing stage at the far back for events and guild announcements. The rest of the complex is generally reserved for practice rooms, a modest (for the size of the building) library, meeting halls, and study rooms. While there are some dorms in the guild hall, it has since discovered the need to expand out to Soaring Hills, its dormitory overlooking the city, due to its popularity.
  • Daihara Toys and Treats: An energetic toy shop of different hand-crafted looking toys, trinkets, and candies. Owned by Daihara Mancer, the shop always exudes a subtle and strange magical aura about it. It's rumored that no matter what a customer is looking for, the shop will always have something of its flavor and variety. Many question how the mysterious shop owner stays up with the trends so swiftly.
  • Kardia Cathedral: Owned by the church of Zentopia, this large cathedral is publicly accessible at all hours and is host to a handful of spiritualists. The church preaches no particular deity, but rather, preaches a general teaching of being mindful of ones own sins and atoning them in due time. The cathedral's interior is almost entirely one massive chamber, though with a few side rooms for offices of the staff, storage, and more secluded prayer room.
  • Train Station: Constantly bustling with excitement during the day, the train station is large, in the open air, with several tracks heading out westwards out of the city towards the mainlines.
  • Soaring Hills: Dormitory for members of the guild, Soaring hills is a modest two-storied establishment overlooking the city on a hill. Members are not required to take up guild-sanctioned housing, but many choose to do so none-the-less.
  • South Gate Park: A peaceful little section of town, the park is circular, stairways heading down from the sidewalk above into the secluded area. It's not very large, but offers a pond and a few surroundings of trees, park benches, and small dirt trail through the grassy area to give one a small sense of peace in passing through.
  • The Lucky Hippogriff: A magical odds-and-ends shop that sells different reagents, lacrimas, and minor trinkets.
  • Sorcerer Weekly: A local branch of the famous magazine Sorcerer Weekly, housing several of their top interviewers and content producers.
