Appearance

Anastasia in the forests of Vincordia and without her skulls.
Anastasia lowering the hood of her shroud.

Anastasia is a very tall, lithe woman. She tends to wear very revealing outfits because she can't really stand heat. At all. She's also very pale and wears lots of skulls.

Personality

Inquisitive and odd. Anastasia is very curious about the world existing outside of the Mephidross and Vincordia. She also wants to make some friends... she's just not exactly the 'best' at it. She has no qualms of getting in peoples' personal spaces.. and she also learned from her father that she should never be bothered by 'haters'. Whatever a hater is. She wants to know.

Background

We like friends.

Because of their mutual background in the necromantic arts, Geth and Vanille were able to hit it off. Vanille was always quite inquisitive about the world that existed outside of Vincordia and Geth seemed knowledgeable.. and always able to answer her questions in some fashion. Eventually the two became a couple and a long ways after that... Anastasia was born.

Geth insisted that Anastasia be born in the Mephidross, which she was. Vanille was fine with exploring Geth's domain.. though of course she was not exactly a fan of the atmosphere. Nonetheless, Anastasia grew up as a curious and happy child. She had a natural affinity for Ice magicks as well as Necromancy... she learned a few hand-to-hand abilities from her mother and her father.. but her real passion was with the spirits. They talked to her often and as she grew up it was hard for her to distinguish which of those voices were hers and which were others.. eventually she decided to play neutral and just answer in plural tense. As Anastasia grew older, she was able to go to Vincordia and meet other elves. She was able to meet with the nobles in Vanille's family who were incredibly old.. but she never really found much pleasure with them. The elves were always doing their own thing and seemed quite content in solitude. Anastasia started to yearn for more. She wanted adventure.

  • Anastasia is skilled with blade fighting. She's good with daggers, swords, and hooks. Her choice of weapon is a large bladed hook like how her father uses.

Powers & Merits

(Unique, or hereditary, in-born powers, whether due to genetics or magic, things that can't be taught to others or simply gifted to this person from an outside force. Powers based on weapons should go in the Items. Merits can also go here.)

Necromancy Spells

  • [Killing Wave] - http://komarckart.com/new_10.jpg Black spell. A tidal wave of expelled mana attempts to kill a widespread group of targets in the wave's path via desynchronizing their connection between body and soul. If they survive it, they suffer a great deal of fatigue (slowdown effect).
  • [Black Sun's Zenith]: The necromancer taps on her connection to the black sun of the Mephidross, no matter where she is, and summons a small bit of it in the form of a black sphere in front of her palm, using it to blast a beam of necrotic energy onto a target. She can focus as much of her power as she wants into this, giving it the ability to shoot multiple beams tracking multiple targets, or one torrential beam if she has enough time to gather the power necessary. Anyone that's hit and survives even a grazing gets temporary, lingering damage to their willpower and overall vitality.
  • [Bone Wall]: Anastasia can cause up to two walls of mushed-together bones to erupt, up to 10 feet high. A wall constructed in this fashion was withstand quite a bit of damage and is generally bulletproof. It does not actually require any bones to be present - Anastasia conjures the bones from...other places.
  • [Bone Armor]: Anastasia surrounds herself in intricate bone armor that is dense enough to have the same protection as plate armor, but is much lighter and allows for more movement.
  • [Rime Transfusion]: Black mana spell. Draws out all of the warmth in a body and...essentially freezes it from the inside. Can be used in anything that's warm to just sap all warmth and obliterate it. No touch required, but it makes it instant if she can.
  • [Mind Funeral]: Black, blue spell. Anastasia attempts to outright destroy a target's mind, accessing it via brute force and then detonating the target's very memories. Usually doesn't work on bosses, actual body is unharmed. This spell is quite taxing on Anastasia so it cannot be cast too often.
  • [Necrogen Mists]: http://www.alexhorleyart.com/gallery/mt ... nmists.jpg Black spell. Anastasia can actively produce necrogen mists from the Mephidross in a given area, which causes temporary amnesia as long as the targets remain within the gas, as well as violent choking and coughing. Channeled spell, mists can be blown offcourse, and are very noticeable - yellow/greenish tinge.
  • [Summon Gravecrawler]/[Zombify]/[Army of the Damned]/[Endless Ranks of the Dead]: http://media.wizards.com/images/magic/d ... 0x1600.jpg As a necromancer, Anastasia can, in fact, raise the dead. Gravecrawler summons a single zombie effortlessly from the Mephidross, Zombify does it singly to a present body, Army of the Damned actively raises several dozen zombies from bodies, and Endless Ranks of the Dead actively pulls bodies from the Mephidross itself to serve her - the latter is an enchantment that exists until dispelled, giving Anastasia a new zombie every turn without any extra effort required.

Frost Spells

[Blizzard] - This spell calls freezing sleet, snow, and hailstones on foes. The cutting ice shards and hail pound down upon the caster’s enemies and foes, battering them and causing slashing, impact and cold damage. Calling down shards of freezing ice to batter and rend their enemies, Archmagi have been known to rout entire armies using this spell. This is a spell that must be channeled, and if Anastasia is attacked or knocked out, the spell dissipates.

[Cone of Cold] - Cone of Cold is a core ice mage ability. It deals frost damage to all enemies in front of the caster. It is a point-blank Area of Effect spell. It is an instant castable spell, however it only lasts for a few seconds.

[Deep Freeze] - Deep Freeze is a core ice mage ability. It causes a target to be Frozen (think sub-zero) for short duration of time, allowing other allies or Anastasia to perform a single strike.

[Frost Nova] - Frost Nova is a point-blank area of effect spell that does light damage and freezes all enemies within 12 yards of the mage, rooting them in place for 8 seconds. Rooted enemies have a chance to break out each time they take damage; this check is made every time damage is dealt from any source. Because this spell only roots adversaries, it is ideal to use against melee (ranged opponents can still attack).

[Ice Armor] - Ice Armor is a mage spell that grants a self buff which increases armor and frost resistance, and has a chance to snare attackers (making them freeze temporarily for a few seconds) to allow the mage to run away. Enemies that attack with melee have a chance to become chilled, slowing their movement and attack speed. Anastasia often stacks this with her bone armor. (Note: This spell is just to help Anastasia run away if necessary and can freeze attackers with GM discretion.)

[Frost Ward] - Frost Ward is a mage spell that casts a shield on the caster which absorbs frost damage. The shield lasts 30 seconds or until the given amount of damage is absorbed (probably one strong ice attack anyway), whichever comes first. Frost Ward is self-cast only.

[Ice Barrier] - Ice Barrier is a mage talent that shields the caster for up to a minute, absorbing physical, magical, and most environmental damage (fall damage is not absorbed.) Damage from Damage-over-Time spells such as poison is also absorbed. While shielded, spells do not lose casting time due to push-back interruption. However, debuffs such as snares/traps, counterspell magics, and silence still pass through. Ice Barrier stacks with other damage shield spells.

[Ice Block] - Ice Block is a core mage ability that allows the caster to completely freeze themself in a large block of Ice. The Ice block gives short-term immunity to all damage and attacks (except dispel), at the cost of being unable to take action. Ice Block also purges most debuffs.

[Frostbolt] - Frostbolt is a mage ability that deals frost direct damage and chills the target, slowing its movement speed. This spell is the primary source of damage for a frost mage.

[Ice Lance] - Ice Lance is a core mage ability that deals Frost direct damage. When cast, the mage forms a lance made of ice and throws it at a target. Ice Lance is one of the offensive mage abilities that can be used while moving, allowing it to be used to help retreat.

Soul Stone Ability (Dark Mage)

  • Focus: When alone (not surrounded by allies), Mage has the chance ability of double-casting a single spell (d7 occult)
  • Sight: A small burst of flame that reveals hidden/cloaked enemies. Also about 10 seconds and the range is slightly bigger than Ruwatch.
  • Polymorph: Ability to turn a single target into a harmless critter for a short amount of time. If the target is struck/hit it breaks the spell.
  • Napalm Beat: A burst of neutral power against an enemy or group of enemies, the more enemies there are the more the weaker the spell is because damage is mitigated to others.
  • Tome Savvy: Has the ability to use tomes effectively.

Large Scale Battle

  • Stats: +250 ATK, +250 DEF
  • Special: Blizzard - Twice per battle, Anastasia can cause 500HP damage in addition to any other damage. This spell is continuous and can last for four turns. After three turns, the area is under 'Heavy Snow' terrain.
  • Super: Endless Ranks of the Dead - From the moment this is used, 50% of the HP Damage to the enemy is added to the HP of Anastasia's army. She is then out of the battle.

Merits

  • Concentration (1): You are very good at focusing, and suffer no penalty for distractions, stress or having to repeat yourself often.
  • Eidetic Memory (2): Having a "photographic" memory, you can accurately recall any sight or sound with a successful Alertness roll. The higher you roll the more you remember. You also rarely forget -anything-
  • Acute Senses (1): One of your five senses is incredibly sharp, and Alertness rolls involving this sense have a +1 Bonus. You must buy this merit separately for each sense. (hearing)
  • Soothing Voice (2): You have an entrancing voice. When using your voice (speeches, singing, poetry), you get a +2 Bonus on Social rolls. When making casual conversation, +1 Bonus.
  • Resources (1): Money, dear boys. This is very simply how much (or how little) currency you have available to you at any time. Without this merit, your character is essentially broke, with just enough money to scrape by in a dire situation or on their own. With one point, meals and maintenance are taken care of. With two points, you can outfit yourself with the best available gear and have little need to watch frivolous purchases (within reason) at local merchants. With three points, renewing equpiment and provisions often, or even providing for others is comfortably within your means, with perhaps the possibility to get transporation to almost anywhere as well.

Unique Items

(Madougu, magical weapons or other unique or special weapons, as well as all techniques related to them, as without it technically the character is NOT able to use these abilities.)
None.

Items Of Note

  • Some Dwarven Wine.
  • Leather bag of 100 gold pieces as well as a few stones from the dwarves.
  • Map of the North

Weaknesses & Flaws

Flaws can go here. Balance is key!

Anastasia is -very- odd. She isn't exactly one you would bring to a social gathering. While she is entertaining - many not-so-open-minded individuals would rather stay away from her. Anastasia is also a necromancer who dabbles in dark arts, and to many this is looked down upon.

Most of Anastasia's spells also require her to be protected, being hit or attacked will nullify her magics and make her vulnerable.

Flaws

  • Disturbing Mannerism (2): You have a habit or character trait which is peculiar, gross, or annoying. You may not even be aware of it-but everyone else is. Penalties of social rolls are increased at the GM's discretion. (She talks in third person... she prefers to be as close to naked as possible because she prefers cold to heat.)
  • Isolated Upbringing (1): You were raised in a very unique society, or were somehow otherwise sequestered away from "normal" life, so you have trouble dealing with this Outside-World thing. Dealing with any community outside the one in which you were raised raises a -1 Penalty on Social rolls, when RP'ing accomodates it. This can lead to quite a bit of problems of the non comedic type in this kind of setting. (Anastasia grew up in the swamps of the Mephidross and the isolated Vincordia. She doesn't know anything other than those two places.. and most beings she hung out with in either place were either elf or undead.)
  • Curiosity (2): Your incredible curiosity often overrides your common sense. Resisting temptation requires a successful Wits roll, difficulty depending on the situation. A very bad flaw to take with certain evil sadistic GMs.
  • Echoes (2): Your supernatural nature affects the world around you; for example, if you are a "witch", milk sours in your presence or you cannot walk on hallowed ground. Severity of the flaw depends on how severe –and noticeable– the echoes are. This should be taken only by supernatural or cursed characters. There is little to no reason for Joe Dudeguy to make milk sour, but Billy Half-Demon might. (There's always a constant chill around Anastasia's body)
  • Otherworldly Taint (2): You have a physical peculiarity (odd hair/eye color, glowing eyes, etc.) and/or just an odd aura about you which may make you stick out. Someone who suspects you're not "normal" may make an Alertness roll, difficulty 7, to determine what you are.
  • Group Enmity (2): Some group, i.e. another House/Kingdom/Guild/whatever, doesn't like you and may prevent you going places you might otherwise go or may otherwise give you hell in a variety of ways. (She's a necromancer. Pretty much like a Grimleal, I SUPPOSE.)

NPC(s) to go with char

  • Zombie Bulette
  • Zombie Dracolich/Frostwyrm thing. ELVES TOOK IT.
