History
XCOM is founded in the U.S. on May 12, 1962, in response to numerous reports of widespread violence, unexplained deaths and geological anomalies in and around Elkhart, Indiana. The strange phenomena conditioned to spread across America and civilians disappear without trace. XCOM is formed when The Council initiates the XCOM Project in response to the alien invasion. It wasn't until much later that X-Com was transformed from an investigation unit to a combat division in response to the Outsiders (Aliens) starting there invasion of earth.
