Appearance

A slender, well built young woman with fair skin and freckles on her face. She has very long red hair usually done up in a long ponytail that trails behind her. When in a fight, she gets the same violent, unhinged glare her father was known for. Otherwise when in a good mood she generally has a confident smile on her face. She smells like flowers.

Personality

Explosive. Explosive laughter, explosive anger, explosive sadness. Varia is a girl of extremes. She tends to judge people harshly if they screw up, but treats them very kindly unless they do something dangerous or harmful. At the end of the day she thinks she’s better than most people, but she rarely will come out and say it.

Background

Unable to have a kid the regular way, Shaila and Shinshi improvised. With help from Jach, they designed a daughter and built her from scratch, and so Variation Six was born. Soon it became clear that she had developed aspirations to be a Big Damn Hero. Her father began to train her in swordsmanship, and by her own choice Varia chose three-sword style. She clashed with Shinshi regularly, as he tried his best to push her to her very limit, and Varia became an accomplished fighter. Now she's ready to become a hero.

Powers & Merits

  • Searing Fist: Varia can heat her right hand up to extremely high temperatures, burning those she touches.
  • Electric Touch: Varia can electrify her left hand, able to stun those she touches.
  • Grasshopper: Varia has powered legs that enable her to jump very high.
  • Prehensile Hair: Varia can manipulate her hair as if it were another arm, able to grab things with it.
  • Super Strength: Varia is extremely strong. She's capable of leaving a dent in metal that she punches.
  • Regenerative Nanomachines: Varia's body has nanomachines that are able to heal flesh wounds.
  • Metal Endoskeleton: Varia's internal structure is made of metal, making her more resilient to damage.
  • Cry of Rage: Varia lets out an enraged battlecry, sending out sonic waves which can shatter glass and stun everyone who hears it. The buildup takes one turn, during which time her eyes flash.
  • Solid Footing: Varia's feet can inject hooks into the ground, rooting her in place. She can use this same ability to scale (slowly) up vertical surfaces. This does not work on soft ground such as dirt, in which her hooks can find nothing solid enough to latch onto without tearing free.

Eidetic Memory (2): Having a "photographic" memory, you can accurately recall any sight or sound with a successful Alertness roll. The higher you roll the more you remember. You also rarely forget -anything-.

Iron Will (5): You cannot be mind-controlled easily, and getting you to surrender is borderline impossible. When magical (or other) mind-control is attempted on you, both roll and you get a +3 bonus to your roll. It's possible to do it, but you'll fight it with every fiber of your being, and will not stay in thrall very long.

Unique Items

Varia uses a three-sword style of combat.

The Edge Upon Which God Shall Be Cut: This pretentiously named katana with a red-tinted blade links to Varia’s body when she wields it, granting the blade extra properties. She wields The Edge with her right hand.

  • Searing Blade: The Edge is set on fire, burning anyone and anything it cuts.
  • Burning Slash: Varia slashes The Edge through the air, sending a blast of fire tearing across the ground at high speeds in the direction she slashes in.

The Doom That Haunts The Bravest of Men: This katana with a black-edged blade links to Varia’s body when she wields it, granting the blade extra properties. She wields The Doom with her left hand.

  • Lightning Blade: The Doom becomes electrified, stunning those it cuts.
  • Storm Center: Varia raises The Doom into the air, and electricity arcs all around her, damaging any enemy near her.

The Barber: This underwhelmingly named katana with an exceptionally shiny blade links to Varia's hair when she wields it. She wields The Barber with her hair.

  • I Whip My Hair Back and Forth: Varia can swing her sword in wide arcs around her using her hair. It isn’t nearly as fast as Whirling Blades of Death, but it does have further reach.
  • Whirling Blades of Death Version 2: Inspired by her Great Uncle Galvan’s move. Varia spins like a deadly top with all three blades, becoming a deadly battlefield hazard.
  • Disarm Immune: Due to the katanas’ hilts linking with her hands and hair, it’s very hard to disarm Varia.

Items Of Note

Rollerblades: Varia’s prized rollerblades, black with red wheels. The wheels can retract inside, allowing them to act as regular boots.

Weaknesses & Flaws

Electromagnetic Vulnerability: As a machine, Varia is vulnerable to being disrupted and even outright short circuited by EMPs, concentrated bursts of electricity, and powerful magnets.

Prideful: Varia has far too much pride in her own abilities. She’s very easy to lure into a fight as a result.

Hard to Heal: Varia cannot be healed by most healing magic. Unless it can fix machines, it can't fix Varia.

Deep Sleeper (1): Waking up is hard; getting you moving is hard enough (-2 on all rolls to wake up), getting you comprehending what's going on after you're up isn't much easier (Your rolls in the next few minutes.. up to 30 minutes.. are at -1.)

Overconfident (1): You think you can do everything even though you probably can't, and you try to prove your belief as often as possible.

Compulsion (1): Varia has a compulsion to challenge any sword fighter she meets to a duel. You might need to roll (Diff 6) to resist this.

Driving Goal (3): Varia wants to become the greatest swordfighter in the multiverse. Your obsession with your vision can temporarily be soothed by a proper situation (Mission, Combat, etc) or a roll (Diff 8).

Intolerance (1): Varia has difficulty tolerating cold-hearted people, and is likely to snap at them and be dismissive.
