Tall, tan and handsome, usually wearing goth clothes or biker clothes, hair in a mess, and usually with a rather expressionless face. There is a picture there.

Personality

Kurei is generally a calm guy. He is a natural born leader with a sharp mind and quick reactions, but is generally content doing what he enjoys, which is fighting. He is fiercely competitive, but seeks out new ways to improve himself and grow stronger. He has a sense of honor and duty bred into him by his father, and will generally try to do what he considers to be the right thing. There is a bit of a darker side to Kurei, however, when he's in a bad mood, he tends to remain quiet and broody, and occasionally experiences mood whiplash.

Background

Kamen Hokage and met Saya Nagi when they were first fairly young and Kamen wanted training from Saya's father, Souchirou. Years later, Saya had returned to Tokyo and met up with Kamen and they pursued a relationship. It was a little scandalous because Kamen was her teacher but eventually they got married and everything seemed to be happy ever after. Saya and Kamen raised Rin at the Natsume dojo and while they were not particularly wealthy like other members of Saya's family, they were happy. Kurei grew up as Kamen and Rin's first son. He surprisingly had his own flame, separate from his sister's. Kurei grew up happy alongside the rest of his family, despite a bit of a rebellious streak.
Due to their families' history, Kurei was trained as a fighter, both by his parents, and by some of his extended family. He leaned more towards battle than ninjutsu, which was a bit of a sore spot to his father, and made it so the two of them often butted heads. This gave Kurei a bit of a snarky streak and the habit for mouthing off and speaking his mind, a trait he got from his mother's side of the family. He's also developed a bit of a competitive, combative streak, preferring to deal with things physically than stealthily, if he can. He took the name Nagi, partly in defiance to his father, and partly to establish his own independence in regards to his fighting style and philosophy.

Special Abilities

Natsume-Ryuu: The Natsume style of martial arts, focussing on powerful blows and graceful counters, is Kurei's main fighting style. While he's learned how to fight from both his parents, his primary fighting style will always be the Natsume-Ryuu, learned from his mother, with additions from the other Styles as needed, mostly for weapons fighting. He is able to use his ki to boost his strength and speed and endurance, allowing him to
Uraate (裏当て; lit. "Backing", "Reverse Striking"): This is fulcrum-based transference skill, an example of KI transmission that teaches one to shift the point and force of impact by striking the dead center of an object. At expert-levels, a practitioner can transmit the force of impact wherever they please, as long as a medium exists to transmit their power through.
Natsume Goushin-Ryū Kongou Hasshiki: Taizan Hougou (Natsume-Style Advanced Exercise, 8th Degree: Mt. Tai Demolishing Roar): A technique which uses "reverse striking" transference through a stiff-shoulder charge to shift the force and impact of the blow over a distant, demolishing most anything upon impact with its pressure wave.
Natsume Goushin-Ryū Kongou Hasshiki: Renkan Tenpen Tetsukageki (Natsume-Style, Advanced Exercise, 8th Degree: Linking Heavenly Iron Attack): This move is a set of precise, bone-crushing blows.
Natsume Goushin-Ryū: Radotenko (棗剛真流 羅どう天靠, Natsume-Style: Eye-connecting Heavenly Twist): A technique combining a fierce shoulder charge with an immediate release of KI upon impact that sends the opponent flying backwards.
Natsume Goushin-Ryu: Tsuba Otoshi (棗剛真流鍔落とし, The Natsume Sword Handle Drop): A sword-technique that puts emphasis on the handle while dealing an overhead swing, upping the cutting force of the blade. However, when facing the Iron Skin of the Kagiroi family, this technique proves utterly ineffective.
Tetsushikō (Iron Finger): Known to be a particularly lethal technique. Using one finger, the user punches through the muscle and directly striking the internal organs, particularly the liver.
Ryukei Qigong Tashinkō (龍形気功鍛針功; lit. "Dragon Qi, Forged Iron Needle") The Takayanagi family's greatest secret technique, one of the technique of the so-called Hatsukei, or "power release". Utilizing the skill "Uraate", the user can transmit their power through the air itself. The first step is collecting the constantly accelerating rotational force that begins from the feet on up, until it is forged into a needle using their KI. Next, this honed, atmospheric force is redirected from the circular motion to a straight line (via punch), and sent barreling into the target.
Ryukei Qigong Tashikou: Shiryū Enretsu Sen (龍形氣功鍛針功•四龍炎裂孅, Dragon-Ki Qigong Forged Needle: Four Flaming Raging Dragons' Massacre): This ki-based technique coordinates two Forged Iron Needles with the Raging Blazing Double Dragon Palm, producing a four-headed ki-based dragon. Obviously THIS CANNOT be done without someone else doing the same attack, like say Rin. But this is being listed for completion purposes.

Ninjutsu: (忍術) The Arts of the Ninja, the 18 disciplines of the shinobi. Kurei was raised by a ninja father. As such, he has superior athletic and physical abilities, incredible sneaking skills, the ability to shadow others, resistance to hanging upside down and several other advantages, such as breathing techniques, meditation, the ability to wear a personality like a second skin and immense concentration. The 18 Skills [1] of the ninja is what Kurei has studied... but has let them go lax. He has a few Ninjutsu skills and general training, but he is not actually an exceptional ninja.
Utsusemi no Jutsu: The fabled ninja substitution technique. Kurei learned this from an early age, the ability to substitue yourself with a log, or any other available item, to trick an opponent's attack. He has become very good at this.
Ninja Weapons: Kurei has learned to use ninja weapons and tools, though his personal favorite weapons are twin ninjaken, stored in a long staff-like holster on his back. He knows how to use the short bow, shuriken, needles, tonfa, and nekode as weapons, but is primarily a physical fighter.

Large Scale Battle Stats

Stats: +500 ATK
Special: White Flame: Kurei can cancel out up to 2500 HP of Fire damage per battle, or three individual fire strikes, to any army he's in. (if he goes over 2500HP of damage after two hits, he can't use the third). There is no cooldown for this.
Super: Nova Flame: Kurei can instantly deliver 1250 HP of unblockable damage to the enemy army. After the damage is done, for three rounds, the enemy army is at -500 DEF (from their top score). Kurei is then out of the battle.

Powers & Merits

Hokage Flame Master: Kurei's Flame ability is called the White Hot Flame, allowing him to generate plasma. His basic flame is exceptionally hot, enough to make steel, but when he activates his flame's true form, he is able to generate hyper-heated plasma. This plasma can be fired as a ball (for explosive impact) or as a stream (more like a beam) for directed damage. Kurei can also generate flames as he punches, allowing him to burn as well as strike, but does not have the kind of mastery to generate plasma punches. This grants him with a resistance to temperatures and flames, making Kurei very hard to burn without incredible heat.
Plasma Ball: Litterally creates a 'fireball' of Plasma, causing a small explosion but massive heat damage to a single target.. or anything between him and his actual target. The Plasma ball also explodes on impact, having some Fireball-like Area of Effect damage.
Plasma Blast: Fires a thin stream of 'flamethrower' like Plasma out, able to cut through just about anything. This can't be used as a sword or lightsaber or anything, but can be used to cut open doors or people.
Incandescent Armor: Kurei can surround himself with his White Hot Flame, wrapping his entire body in flames which only burn on contact, but actually cause a form of heat haze around him. This form considerably enhances Kurei's physical abilities, as well as coating him in an armor of plasma. This allows him to pointedly ignore any and all flame-type attacks directed at him, and cause considerable damage to people attempting to physically harm him, due to the very high heat. This is rather draining, however, as Kurei's flame is hyper concentrated and controlled, causing him to have a limited time to use the White Armor, but is his most devastating ability.
Fire Burst Flight: Kurei can generate immense flame gusts from his hands and feet, surrounding himself with flame and flying into the air, allowing him to avoid the negatives of flight (wind resistance, friction). Kurei has rather precise control in flight, between his training and his agility, allowing him to fight in mid air.

Ryugan: Kurei has the power of the Dragon's Eye, which synchronizes with the spirits of all things thus it gives him a type of prescience that allowed her to see anywhere past, present, possible futures; as well as seeing and hearing the dead. Kurei can also use his Dragon's Eye to attempt to use psychometry. The Dragon's Eye is known for it's capacity to consume ki indefinitely, so sustaining it too long can cause the user to lose consciousness.A notorious side effect of the Ryugan is that it's user can also hear the dead, which tend to try to influence him in not so right ways. The Ryugan allows Kurei (in the Ryugan-active state) to read moves before they happen and avoid them more easily.

Guild Membership - Fighter

Kurei is a member of the Fighter's Guild. As such, he gets the following advantages:

  • Berserk: When the fighter's health drops to critical levels, the fighter can go into a desperation mode with stronger and faster attacks. This effect ends when either the Fighter is knocked out, or healed back to more stable levels.

Merits

Clear Sighted (3pts): A benefit of his Ryugan and ninja training, Genjutsu and other such illusory effects more often than not don't trick Kurei, even without needing to activate Ryugan fully.
Concentration (1pt): Kurei can focus his mind like a steel trap, allowing him to perform multiple things at once, and (sometimes) be able to focus on both the real world and Ryugan.

Unique Items

Hokage Tekkou: A ninja arm band worn on his left arm, allowing Kurei to control his flame. If removed, the flame is out of control.
Nitouryubo: A staff Kurei walks around with, or slings onto his back. Hidden in the staff are two ninjaken, which he can pull out and fight with.

Items Of Note

Ninja Weapons: Shuriken, needles, nekode claws, and a tanto dagger hidden in his boots.
Ninja Tools: Lockpicking Set, 20 feet of rope, eggshell bombs, climbing claws.
Leather Gear: Kurei often wears leather gear, mostly for biking, such as pants and a coat.
Combat Boots: Kurei's boots are specially designed. They look like combat boots, but the soles are extra malleable, to allow him to move more silently, like military grade.
Goon Smacking Gloves: Kurei has fingerless gloves to use his flames, and they have a metal bit on the back of his fist to help block strikes.

Weaknesses & Flaws

Ryugan: The motherlode. Ryugan can influence Kurei, especially if/when there are dead people attracted to him, or the power of Ryugan. The Ryugan is also a massive energy drain, rapidly siphoning away Kurei's ki when active. If activated and Kurei loses focus, the Ryugan can consume his personality, becoming purely reactive and influenced almost entirely by the Ryugan's desire for survival and violence, fight or flight, until his energy runs out. Moreover, the Ryugan is incredibly hard to control even in the best of conditions, meaning whatever powers/gifts Kurei can gain from it are, at best, a shot n the dark (I.E., GM decides if/when it works, how it works, and what he gets from it, with no influence from Kurei himself).
Love Problems: Kurei, like the rest of his family, has issues with love. While not as severe as Kamen's, he is very quick to get overwhelmed with emotion, and as such tries to practice self-isolation from others. This leads to him being somewhat bi-polar, in that he can be exuberant and full of energy one moment, then more broody and detached the next, which is why he fell into the goth archetype growing up.
Tekkou: Kurei depends on a ninja arm guard around his wrist to control his flame. If the special armguard is not applied to him, and he summons his flame, it will be out of control, and Kurei may get consumed by his own flame. He is not immune to his flame, even if/when using the White Hot Armor, without his Tekkou, and in fact, cannot actually manifest it without one to focus his mind in.

Flaws

Otherworldly Taint (2pts): Kurei's eyes turn Reptilian when he uses the Ryugan. It is a VERY obvious change, he can't really conceal this. His demeanor also changes slightly, as if speaking to people who weren't there. Also he has silvery white hair.
Isolated Upbringing (1pt): Raised by a family of fighters and a clan of ninjas, Kurei has had very little interaction with the normal world. Moreover, he is quite used to fighting as an acceptable way to settle differences, and is likely to suggest that instead of other solutions.
Haunted (2pts): Kurei has had the presence of a spirit about him since he first manifested Ryugan.
Sensation Junkie (2pts): Somewhat linked to his nature and his mental issues, Kurei craves new sensations and will usually take risks to get his 'high'. This generally involves fighting (see below), or otherwise dangerous situations, or romantic/sexual entanglements.
Masochist (1pt): Kurei really likes a good fight. The exertion, the adrenaline, and the pain. Kurei will absolutely roll with any fight he can involve himself in (see above).
