Appearance

Kanako is a small-framed, petite young girl that shares many similar traits from her mother and father. She has warm, soft peach skin and a delicate face that accentuates her round, bright gold eyes. A distinguishing trait that she shares from her mother's side while her head sports a mess of straight, short, dark blue hair that is either left the way it is, tucked neatly behind her pierced ears, or held together with fashionable hair clips. Her features definitely belie her actual age and she seems far too cute for just a fifth-teen year old and instead, more or less seems like a twelve year old. It's not uncommon for many people to mistake her actual age or treat her younger than she is by way of looks. Depending on the occasion, she wears many different styles of earrings, but will always seem to inevitably revert back to her mini butterfly ones, a gift from her Aunt Utau.

It also depends on the type of occasion that determines what she would be wearing on a daily basis as well. Her outfits can range from something sweet or simple, to something dark or punkish. It all depends on the type of mood she's in, so her choice of style is always left to be a mystery which makes others more prone to liking her because they never know what to expect. Still, she seems to take a liking after her mom and dresses in a sort of cute, punk-goth style with her signature colors as orange and black or orange and pink. And just like her earrings, Kanako will -always- have some sort of choker around her neck that will match her outfit for consistency unless something happens otherwise.

Personality

As far as personality, Kanako has grown into a cheerful, bright, collected, and mature young adult. She has her moments and her days just like everyone else. There are times when she's immensely cheerful and energetic: depending on how much caffeine and sugar she consumed or how well her day was going, and there are days where she's depressed or gloomy. Her moods are always fluctuating because she's not a full-grown lady yet and is still a bit fickle with her emotions, easily moving from one thing to the next without warning sometimes. Still, lots of times she can be seen by others as a very calm and collected person, always polite and outgoing. However, despite being in shape and at a reasonable weight, Kanako shows no signs of ever becoming remotely interested in sports and has poor coordination skills with a noticeable dislike for anything athletic. This is also the cause for her lack of swimming skills and her ever-present phobia around large bodies of water. Whether or not she'd ever be willing to try and learn is dependent upon motivation and her trust in others.

Background

The Beginning

With the wedding and reunion of her parents, Amu Hinamori and Ikuto Tsukiyomi, Kanako Tsukiyomi was born on June 25th in the local hospital known as, Seiyo Medical Elite. It was a wonderful and joyous day as many of their friends and relatives came to see the new arrival. At the time, Kanako was too small and overwhelmed to remember meeting her two aunts, Ami and Utau, nor her only grandparents on her mother's side. It was also the first time she met their close friends such as Tadase, Rima, Yaya, Kukai, Kairi, and Nagihiko. Upon their arrival, there was a sudden warm glow in the room emanating from Amu's Humpty Lock and Ikuto's Dumpty Key and with a startling surprise, the two items disappeared in a mass of sparkles. At first, everyone was speechless and worried until another lock reformed round Kanako's neck carried by a light gold chain. The close knit group realized that this was a sign of new things to come for them and Amu's daughter. So, they decided it would be a wonderful new start for a future generation of Guardians at the private elementary school, Seiyo Academy, with Kanako standing at the Queen's Chair. However, this time, it would merely be out of fun and encouragement for the student body instead of a secret organization meant to find the Embryo and purify the X-Eggs like in the past. Yet, it was still unknown as to what person possessed the reborn key to Kanako's lock now and so, they also used that to possibly what the child who possessed it.

Childhood & The Guardians

After a loving childhood with plenty of praise and wonderful stories from those close to her, Kanako grew up to the proper age that she could be inducted into the grade school and after wards became a part of the 1st Grade Star Class. Everyone looked at Kanako with high hopes and standards, reminding her it was her destiny to do this and that they would always be around to support her endeavors, especially her mother and father. However, Amu and Ikuto were not new to the past troubles they had also faced to get where they are and tried to make sure that Kanako did not get mixed up in their past affairs. Over time, other capable children were recruited into the Guardian's little club and started to fill up the empty positions left behind. Kanako would find her true and most best friends in these specific children since she would spend most of her after-school activities with them in the Royal Garden, which was a small, castle-shaped greenhouse in the back of the school surrounded by flowers and greenery. While in the Guardians club and sitting at the Queen's Chair, Kanako took on many important duties such as taking student complaints, suggestions, comments, and ideas to make Seiyo Academy a better place. It was mostly paperwork, but having her close friends nearby made it fun and easier to take it seriously.

The Fifth Year

In a few more years, Kanako grew older, more refined, and more capable of becoming independent as she made it all the way to her 5th year at Seiyo Academy. Still, during that school year in the spring, something was bothering her greatly. Many of her classmates would refer to her as the "Unprecedented Stylish Girl" since she would wear whatever she felt like and it was completely random from each day to the next. One day she would be wearing something lolita-like and then the next day wear something darker and more gothic. All children had to wear uniforms at the school, but somehow Kanako made most of her styles work with the uniform in unison. At first, she thought it was funny, but then over time it grew annoying and she grew confused. She felt it was wrong for them to judge a book by its cover and wondered why they would just notice this, but nothing else. Why didn't they notice the real her? Ironically, she went to her mother for help who had suffered the same fate as a kid herself, it only made her laugh kindheartedly and give her daughter one piece of advice, "Just find your true self".

Searching For Your Self

Kanako took her mother's advice to heart, but she became far too engrossed in Guardian work to really think about it deeply. Still, there were some days where it nagged at the back of her mind. So, one night she curled up on her bed after having another discussion with her mother and father and just laid in silence, thinking deeply. She thought and she thought, but kept getting no where until finally she just sighed and went to sleep. The next morning, she made a startling discovery when she awoke at the foot of her bed and found three colorful little eggs. She sat there dot-eyed and completely overtaken in a "what the hell" moment, wondering where on earth the eggs came from. She freaked out a little when they started to wiggle and move, nearly falling out of bed from sheer surprise. The eggs broke apart in half with a simple crack and from the eggs came three people. They were small in height and insanely cute, almost chibi-like. In response to their so-called "birth", her lock began to glow faintly as well, as if responding to them. They explained to Kanako that they were her wishes, her would-be selves called Guardian Characters that lie dormant inside her heart until she was ready to decide what she really wanted to be. Believe it or not, she took it rather well, much more well than her mother did initially when she had her first Guardian Characters. So, from that moment on, Kanako became inseparable from them as she continued on with her daily life and having a series of ups and downs and some crazy moments whenever they caused trouble for her. And, just like her mother, she also didnt't appreciate random character changes either. It wasn't too long for the other Guardians to develop their Guardian Characters as well and there was still no sign of the person who possessed what they deemed now as the "Treasure Key" to Kanako's "Fortune Lock".

Curiosity Vanished The Girl

Through the years of being a Guardian at Seiyo Academy and dealing with her Guardian Characters, Kanako graduated and moved into the fresh start of middle school. Along with her came her friends from the Guardians since they graduated together and wanted to make sure Kanako didn't have to face middle school by herself and alone. In the following years, Kanako continued to grow up and currently faces her last year in middle school with her Guardian Characters still close behind as she remains undecided on her true self. On an outing after school with most of her friends already home, Kanako walked by a strange abandoned house. At first, she pleasantly ignored it until one of her Guardian Characters claimed they saw something shining in the light of one of the windows. At first, she dismissed the idea that anything would be in such a run-down place until she spotted what she thinks might be a figure hurrying away from the window. Curious and confused, Kanako edged closer towards the main gates of the house and pushed them open, wondering if it was the person holding the key to her lock possibly. However, little did she know that her curiosity and strong urge to find this person would bring her on a adventure of her very own...

Special Abilities

(These are skills, things that can be learned or trained, like martial arts techniques, Jutsu or magic spells. Abilities that are outside the norm of regular humans, but only because they have not had access to them.)

  • None at the moment

Powers

(Unique, or hereditary, in-born powers, whether due to genetics or magic, things that can't be taught to others or simply gifted to this person from an outside force. Powers based on weapons should go in the Items.)

  • In order for Kanako to use any of her character transformations, she must have the Guardian Character present with her and the Fortune Lock to be successful. If she has both, all she needs then is to say "My Heart: Unlock!" and she'll undergo the transformation with the desired Guardian Character. Also, as the comically known cliche, a magical girl must have ongoing "background themes" when she either transform or fights, so I'm going to honor the tradional cliche. She wouldn't be a magical girl archetype without them!

  • Character Transformation: Prism Sun
      • Guardian Character - Chi
      • Character Change - Kanako's earrings change from their current state to a pair of small, golden suns signifying she's using abilities from Prism Sun. Her choker's charm also changes to a sun. She becomes slightly stronger than what she usually is and has limited sword fighting capabilities. As a side-effect, Kanako becomes more aggressive, headstrong, and bolder like a true leader who only wishes to protect the ones she loves most.
      • Techniques - 7th Radiance, Blinding Light
      • Weapons - Solar Sword, Celestial Shield
      • Appearance - Kanako wears her hair in a short ponytail tied up in the back by a metallic hairpiece resembling the sun. Much like Chi's outfit, she has shiny, metal golden armor along her lower arms, lower legs, her chest, and ultimately over top her skirt. Underneath the heavy metal lies a long, stiff white skirt, white tunic, greaves, and a flowing, short white cape with a flame-like, fiery gradient dyed at the tips. There is a leather belt around the midsection of her waist to hold the other eggs she has, but they're usually out so she has no need. This form expresses the epitome of a bold, magical knight.
      • Fighting Theme Song - PORUTA ~ gaisuto no himatsubushi by Silver Forest

  • Character Transformation: Prism Moon
      • Guardian Character - Sel
      • Character Change - Kanako's earrings change from their current state to a pair of small, silver crescent moons signifying she's using abilities from Prism Moon. Her choker's charm also changes to a crescent moon. She becomes more adaptable to her surroundings and alert with some limited extra hearing and sight capabilities. She is able to blend in well with her surroundings and hear the tiniest sounds from small distances or see much more well in the dark than the average humans. As a side-effect, Kanako seems more precise and refined, but at the price of becoming a little more shy and timid.
      • Techniques - Lunatic Strike, Moonlight Facade
      • Weapons - Shadow Kunai, Butterfly Fans
      • Appearance - Kanako wears her hair in pigtails tied together with thin, loose, blue ribbons. Much like Sel's outfit, she has a short, black kimono with silver trim and a faded cloud-like pattern on the front and white kimono-like sleeves with a gradient, faded cloud-pattern on the tips. Aside from those, she has a large silver bow around her waist with extremely long ribbons in the back and black stockings with wooden sandals along the feet. Kanako also has a black mask she can pull over the front half of her face or leave down at her own digression. This form expresses the epitome of an adaptable, elegant ninja.
      • Fighting Theme Song - Moon ~Gekkou~ Attack by Hisakawa Aya

  • Character Transformation: Prism Star
      • Guardian Character - Nova
      • Character Change - Kanako's earrings change from their current state to a pair of small, orange stars signifying she's using abilities from Prism Star. Her choker's charm also changes to an orange star. She becomes a bit more capable with electronic devices and easily much more better at any musical craft. She is able to produce musical scores quicker and easier and even perform without stage fright. As a side-effect, Kanako becomes much more hyper, agreeable, creative, and free-spirited.
      • Techniques - Stardust Reverie, Sound Wave
      • Weapons - Keyboard
      • Appearance - Kanako wears her hair naturally down with a pair of futuristic winged headphones over her ears and a small mic near her mouth. Just like Nova's outfit, Kanako has a futuristic and almost space-like costume consisting of a white, umbrella-like skirt, orange top, white transparent sleeves, and orange boots with little winged accessories attached to the ankles. She also has a blue transparent pair of visor-like glasses over her eyes. Out of many, her most notable feature is the white and blue keyboard that she wields like a guitar. This form expresses the epitome of a digitalized, energetic, keyboardist pop star.
      • Fighting Theme Song - Power of Dream by IOSYS

Unique Items

(Madougu, magical weapons or other unique or special weapons, as well as all techniques related to them, as without it technically the character is NOT able to use these abilities.)

  • Solar Sword - A beautiful, powerful, single-bladed vorpal sword that resonates and glows with the power of the Sun.
    • Allows the use of 7th Radiance, which is a sword-fighting technique that Kanako utilizes to strike out for a direct hit in seven different strokes at seven different angles against a foe.
  • Celestial Shield - A rounded, gleaming golden shield with a pair of white, angelic wings stamped to the front plat. The shield can also be used for defensive purposes as well.
    • Allows the use of Blinding Light, which is an ability that Kanako uses to blind an opponent by reflecting the sun's glare off the metallic sheen.
  • Shadow Kunai - Simple, standard knives made for ninjas.
    • Allows the use of Lunatic Strike, which is an ability that Kanako uses to copy a single kunai knife and then replicate it into thousands of shadow clones that become very much real towards the opponent after she rains them down from above, throwing them like a crazy woman.
  • Butterfly Fans - Lightweight, decorative, purple fans with a butterfly design imprinted onto the paper.
    • Allows the use of Moonlight Facade, which is an ability that Kanako utilizes to produce multiple clones of herself as direct illusions to otherwise confuse or daze the enemy without attacking directly.
  • Keyboard - A simple, modern styled white and blue keyboard that has a white carrying strap.
    • Allows the use of Stardust Reverie & Sound Wave, which are abilities that Kanako can utilize to either create a wave of musical, multicolored stars to be shot at the enemy or create a loud, piercing wave of sound to cause distress and pain in opponent's ears.

Items Of Note

  • Fortune Lock - A golden lock with a diamond-like design to the face that is worn around Kanako's neck by a thin, light gold chain.
  • Chi's Egg - A white egg with a design meant to show the imperial powers of the Sun.
  • Sel's Egg - A dark blue egg with a white and silver design meant to represent the powers of the Moon.
  • Nova's Egg - A white egg with a multicolored design meant to represent a musical score, notes, and the powers of the Stars and Sound.

Merits

  • Concentration(1): Kanako, through her piano practice, Guardians club, and other hobbies, finds it easy to stay patient and focus on a task no matter the hours put into it just to make sure its done. She's also rather calm and collected for her age and can easily voice an opinion or take a critical response without getting too riled up about it. (You are very good at focusing, and suffer no penalty for distractions, stress or having to repeat yourself often.)
  • Eidetic Memory(2): She likes to keep everything factual, accurate, and free of flaws in case it's needed in the future for reference. (Having a "photographic" memory, you can accurately recall any sight or sound with a successful Alertness roll. The higher you roll the more you remember. You also rarely forget -anything-.)
  • Ability Aptitude(1): Kanako, despite her age and looks, is a -very- good poker player with a -very- good poker face. (+1 Bonus to all rolls using this ability.)
  • Innocence(2): Kanako, despite her age, still doesn't get out -that- much and retains most of her childlike purity. (You have an aura of childlike innocence (whether you really are or not). +1 Bonus involving Subterfuge or Manipulation.)
  • Culture Knack(3): With so many others of the student body and even those not apart of Seiyo Academy, Kanako becomes easily popular wherever or whoever she goes with because of the way she dresses and presents herself to the public. (You have a knack for fitting in wherever you are, and though you may not know them beforehand, you pick up on customs quickly. In appropriate situations, your social difficulties may be lowered, or you may be able to recover from a botched roll with another roll at normal difficulty.)
  • Pitiable(1): Since Kanako is at the head position of the Queen's Chair and is also the sole daughter of Amu and Ikuto, her relatives and friends especially strive to keep an eye on her and protect her from anything horrible ever happening. The same can be said for people she hardly knows as well because of the cute and innocent exterior that she shows. Still, it can get pretty overbearing and smothering at times. (You have an aura of child-like-ness/innocence about you, and many have the urge to pity and protect you (unless they're of a Nature that doesn't allow them that sort of thing). This can be helpful, but it may also be annoying.)

Weaknesses & Flaws

  • Phobia of Water(3): Kanako is deathly afraid of large bodies of water due to the fact that she doesn't know how to swim and cannot because she's not athletically motivated to learn all that much. This is partially why she also stays away or off boats for fear of falling overboard and drowning.
  • Soft-Hearted(1): Kanako, like her mother, isn't one to bear the sight of seeing her friends upset or in pain. So, it easily saddens and disables her from acting if she can't make them feel better or help them at all when it really counts. (You can't stand to witness suffering, and if you do, all your rolls are at -2 penalty for the next hour.)
  • Intolerance(1): Kanako just...can't stand shallow people for whatever reason and her mouth has a mind of its own when she's around them. (You have difficulty tolerating a specific thing or type of person, and are likely to snap at them and be dismissive.)
  • Disturbing Mannerism(2): Despite Kanako's own wishes, it might seem odd to people when she's talking to her Guardian Characters or chastising them for causing trouble and the onlookers can only see them as plain, thin air. Although she desperately tries to keep it down to private moments, there is always the occasional slip-up. (You have a habit or character trait which is peculiar, gross, or annoying. You may not even be aware of it-but boy, everyone else is. Penalties of social rolls are increased at the GM's discretion.)
  • Curiosity(2): Kanako is only fifteen years of age. There are -plenty- of other things she doesn't know about and thus, becomes interested in knowing sometimes. (Your incredible curiosity often overrides your common sense. Resisting temptation requires a successful Wits roll, difficulty depending on the situation. A very bad flaw to take with certain evil sadistic GMs.)
  • Dark Secret(1): A fatal flaw within Kanako's personality and her three Heart's Eggs, otherwise known as Guardian Characters or Charas for short, is a heavy price on her own will and control of her own body. If Kanako is subjected to heavy depression for small periods of time, she can start to develop overly exaggerated negative and violent feelings, the complete opposite to her usual carefree and cheerful manner. Once subjected to such emotions, her Heart's Eggs will turn into X-Eggs and in turn those X-Eggs will affect her Guardian Characters and turn them into X-Characters. She'll lose control of her body and own thoughts, letting her X-Characters lash out violently for her and attack innocent bystanders while she feeds them negative energy from her own emotions. In all cases, she never remembers a thing that happened and is most likely a blessing since the news could throw her back into depression. She doesn't even realize this herself and more or less probably wouldn't want anyone else to know either if she could help it. (There's something about you which you don't want people to know, and it would be very bad if they did, or at least you think it would be.)

NPC(s) to go with char

  • Chi - Chi is a tiny fairy that was Kanako's first Guardian Character to be born from an egg that derived from her heart. She has long, blonde hair swept back into a high ponytail with a yellow sun-shaped clip keeping it up and bright blue eyes. She has a white skirt and a white top underneath a smaller version of Kanako's knight armor and with a smaller version of the cape and greaves. She also keeps a small sword at her waist. Chi represents Kanako's desire to become stronger physically so she can protect the people she cares about most. It's also known that Chi is the most rambunctious, headstrong, stubborn, and most blunt of the Guardian Characters and usually thinks she's always right. (Voice Actor: Shizuka Itou)
  • Sel - Sel is a tiny fairy that was Kanako's second Guardian Character to be born from an egg that derived from her heart. Sel has long, straight silver hair with perfect bangs in the front and purple eyes. She wears an elegant, black kimono with a white sash and obi and a pair of wooden sandals with white socks on her feet. She also has a silver, crescent moon hair clip in her hair and carries around a tiny, light blue fan. Sel represents Kanako's desire to become more alert to others around her and blend in with the student body normally instead of being singled out due to popularity, in a sense, she wishes to become a wallflower of some sorts that's invisible. Sel is also the negotiator of her "sisters" and always remains calm, collected, and completely refined. She is definitely the opposite of Chi and tries to make sure she stays level-headed and not rushing off into any direct trouble. She is the most matured and calculated as well, but also exhibiting notions of pure kindness and gentleness. (Voice Actor: Mai Nakahara)
  • Nova - Nova is a tiny fairy that was Kanako's third Guardian Character to be born from an egg that derived from her heart. Nova has two, spiky red pigtails held up by orange star-shaped hair clips and has pink eyes. She wears a smaller version of Kanako's costume with the same color palette and sports the same kind of shoes and headphones. Nova represents Kanako's desire to become more creative, have more drive and motivation in other things, and become a pop star that makes people happy with her music. Nova is definitely the most hyper of the little trio and always wants to have fun in some way. She is the bubbly, air-headed type that lets curiosity pull through instead of common sense, however, she has the most drive and motivation of the two. (Voice Actor: Ryoka Yuzuki)
  • As noted, Guardian Characters can only be seen by their owner or someone that has innocent-like qualities and still very pure at heart, especially young children. Otherwise, no one else will notice or see them like Kanako does and other Character bearers.
