Appearance

Garen is a tall, muscular man chiseled from a lifetime of training. Somewhat rugged.

Personality

The pride of the Demacian military, Garen comports himself with dignity at all times, often a touch naive to things that don't require active tactical knowledge in combat or...well, most things. He loves combat, and hates surrender.

Background

Throughout Valoran, the resolve of Demacia's military is alternately celebrated or despised, but always respected. Their zero tolerance moral code is strictly upheld by civilians and soldiers alike. In combat, this means Demacian troops may not make excuses, flee, or surrender under any circumstance. These principles are espoused to their forces by unrivaled demagogues who lead by example. Garen, the valiant warrior who bears the title the Might of Demacia, is the paradigm to which these leaders are compared. Thousands of great heroes have risen and fallen on the bloody battlefields between Demacia and its preeminent rival, Noxus. It was beneath their mighty banners of war that Garen first met steel with Katarina, the Sinister Blade. The infantrymen who beheld this event (and survived) commented that it seemed as though the two were locked in a mortal waltz against a symphony of clashing blades.

Garen, the pride of the Demacian military and leader of the Dauntless Vanguard, returned from this battle breathless for the first time in his career, though some speculate that this was due to reasons other than exhaustion. The plausibility of these rumors was bolstered when, in every instance thereafter, Garen seized the opportunity to encounter the Sinister Blade again. A paragon of Demacian ethic, Garen never entertained such allegations, for he knew others couldn't understand. Even simply the pursuit of a worthy opponent on the battlefield is, to a true warrior, the reason to rise each morning. The promise of one, particularly so beautifully and diametrically opposed, is the validation of his existence.

The most effective way to kill an opponent is to slice through the man next to him. -- Garen, on front line strategy

Special Abilities

(These are skills, things that can be learned or trained, like martial arts techniques, Jutsu or magic spells. Abilities that are outside the norm of regular humans, but only because they have not had access to them.)

Being the Might of Demacia, Garen has been trained in armed combat for much of his life, and is well versed in conflict.

He also is trained in suiting up in gear he finds onsite, improvising to suitable armor and weaponry quickly.

Decisive Strike - Garen's speed increases twofold, able to dash quickly across the field and slash with his greatsword, the power of the assault actively cutting off any mutant, supernatural, or magical abilities from being cast by the victim temporarily. (This works more or less as a silence, even if the creature or ability isn't magical, like a mutant.) The surge of energy that flows through Garen causes him to be able to break many magical snares and roots. It does not remove any spells already in play.

Courage - Garen's resistance to magic and physical assault bolsters by a considerable amount as he girds himself spiritually and defensively to guard significantly against incoming assaults (about 30% reduction). Garen can do this even in combination with other assaults.

Judgement - One of Garen's bread and butter attacks, the Might of Demacia spins with blade extended, cutting through masses of enemies in a whirling dervish, hitting repeatedly in one activation. Garen can move while spinning, tracking after the enemy.

Demacian Justice - Utilizing the power of pure justice into a single magical attack, Garen coalseces the might of Demacia into a giant magical blade that thrusts straight downward from over a designated opponent's head, dealing a significant portion of magical damage, plus even more damage based on how weak or damaged an enemy already is. This attack only requires line of sight.

Powers & Merits

(Unique, or hereditary, in-born powers, whether due to genetics or magic, things that can't be taught to others or simply gifted to this person from an outside force. Powers based on weapons should go in the Items. Merits can also go here.)

Perserverance - Garen has a special ability that allows him to recuperate very quickly after combat. This only applies when out of a fight, and essentially negates downtime.

Unique Items

(Madougu, magical weapons or other unique or special weapons, as well as all techniques related to them, as without it technically the character is NOT able to use these abilities.)

Garen has a number of unique armor choices, each with various magical items to supplement his abilities, to keep up with the enemy.

Regular Garen - Equipped with standard Demacian armor and a standard sword, this is what Garen uses whenever he's using standard items (naturally). This is also what Garen uses when he's using items he may recover from PARADIGM missions. He cannot mix loot - a warrior takes pride in a matching set, and only his original armor is truly variable.

Sanguine Garen - Garen equips the deadly Sanguine Blade, upping his damage by a fair bit and granting the ability to drain the very life from his opponents with every strike, as well as gaining the ability to use [Zeke's Herald] once per mission, a small standard that grants his entire *party* life stealing with every blow. (Lasts one turn.)

Desert Trooper Garen - Armor forged for harsh temperatures, the Desert Trooper armor emphasizes self-suffiency and regeneration, utilizing an Emblem of Valor to do so, and the powerful Tiamat sword/axe, which emphasizes cleaving strokes, and clearing out massive waves of enemies.

Commando Garen - The Commando armor - with sunglasses for the ultimate in badassery - strengthens Garen's battle mobility, making him seem like a man in chain mail or even leather instead of the plate mail he dons. Boots of Swiftness plays to this as well as giving Garen resistance to slowing magics and abilities, and the dreaded [Youmuu's Ghostblade] lets him move in an instant, akin to a short-range teleport, to catch stragglers.

Dreadknight Garen - Drastic times call for drastic measures. The Dreadknight armor uses a darker source of power, giving Garen much in the way of magical resistance in turn - his Mercury's Treads boost his resistance to spells and arcana, and his blade, Mercurial Scimitar, can actively devour any magical debuffs, curses, or lingering spell effects present on himself or his allies to greatly enhance his speed and strength.

Rugged Garen - Might makes right, and with the Rugged armor Garen loses all sense of subtlety or precision, going straight for pure strength. Carrying the massive Infinity Edge, Garen's strength is enhanced considerably with the magical blade, able to cleave through incredibly tough materials and foes alike, and able to parry the mightiest of blows. He also possesses the Last Whisper, an artifact that allows him to effectively penetrate through armor. (This is actually a magical bow, but Garen cares not for your ranged weapons, and just uses it to boost his melee attacks by carrying it about for the magical aura.)

Steel Legion Garen - If you cannot protect your allies, what is your true worth in any party? Steel Legion Garen is a walking tank, the powerful and thick Warmog's Armor providing ample physical resistance and a large health pool. The Sunfire Cape Garen dons actively deals Fire/Holy damage every second to surrounding enemies close to the Might of Demacia.
