Appearance

Galvan Swiftblade is usually dressed in a suit or leathers - he *looks* a bit shady, like someone that always has a plan or scheme going. He seems amiable enough with his ever-present grin that borders on dangerous. Has a black leather eyepatch over his left eye.

Personality

Galvan is a man that craves knowledge - he likes knowing, learning, and above all, maintaining some semblance of control, control, control. He is very dominant in all of his affairs, and will not hesitate to assert himself if he feels he has a stake in any matter. He can be quite the flirt, though his fondest wish is to simply be at good odds with everyone (this does not always occur).

Background

A man that has lived for several hundred years, Galvan is well used to shifting from place to place - usually through the shadows.

Because of his affinity, he's often fallen in with the wrong crowd, due to the ease in which criminals are controlled. Though none of his criminal activities on any world could be proven, a recent event has caused Galvan to draw back on such activities anyway, seemingly repentant. A few events in which he actually stopped various underworld activities on other worlds brought his name into the open as an asset, and he (surprisingly) took the offer to join PARADIGM.

Special Abilities

(These are skills, things that can be learned or trained, like martial arts techniques, Jutsu or magic spells. Abilities that are outside the norm of regular humans, but only because they have not had access to them.)
Galvan's abilities with the sword are *solid* - he's incredibly proficient with a single blade, and abhors bringing out two blades - he feels this is always overkill. He collects many weapons from many civilizations, however, and is fond of practicing with weapons of all sorts of dimensions, with a varying degree of skill in many.

[The Whirling Blades of Death] - Galvan's signature manuever and performed with two blades only, the Whirling Blades of Death allows Galvan to twirl in place, augmenting his defense via parrying by multiudes and attempting to defeat anyone that comes into melee range via small cuts for blood loss.

Galvan is also proficient in basic firearms training - enough to not be a nuisance on the battlefield, as well as hand to hand CQC. Neither of these, however, are his basis of specialization - swordplay.

Powers & Merits

(Unique, or hereditary, in-born powers, whether due to genetics or magic, things that can't be taught to others or simply gifted to this person from an outside force. Powers based on weapons should go in the Items. Merits can also go here.)
Shadow Manipulation: Galvan possesses the ability to interact with his shadow and, to a point, that of others, in many ways - this is considered a natural and non-magical effect (on the level of mutant ability).
[Shadow Weaponry] - Galvan can use his shadow to manifest physically, often in the form of tendrils, swords, or any tangible form he chooses, even using it for armor, improvised cover or walls. He can only do this from his own shadow. With some effort, he can expand and lengthen his shadow this way, though the more he has to do it, the more concentration it takes.
[Shadow Headhunter Technique] - Galvan disappears into his own shadow - his hands then appear in the shadow of the enemy, grabbing their ankles and attempting to drag them into their own shadow, like a prison, leaving only their head above ground. Galvan can then reappear out of any other shadow. This technique carries a risk - his strength isn't augmented, so an enemy can (and many times, will) simply overwhelm him and drag him out into melee range. This leaves him wide open to the wary, ready, or just plain STRONG.
[Shadow Crushing Palm] Galvan can only perform this technique standing in front of a bright light. He raises his hand to cast a large, looming shadow of his palm over the enemy - he then causes his shadow to manifest, shadow hand crushing the opponent.
[Shadowstep] - Galvan can move incredibly quickly by shifting through his shadow to another shadow, be it of an enemy or ally or even an inanimate object. The shadow must be big enough for him to fit into at least via squirming, but does not have to be on the ground, necessarily.

[Shadow Realm] - Galvan can utilize his shadow to be a dimensional pocket, slipping vast amounts of things into it for storage purposes - even himself, to dodge enemy assaults or to contain prisoners.

Immortality - Galvan has lived a very long time.

Unaging (2): For some reason, you never age. While this has its benefits, if you know people long enough, they'll start to notice you not getting any older, which may cause some suspicion. While it's unlikely you'll die of old age, this merit does not keep you from getting ill or wounded.

Luck (3): You manage to succeed in places when others fail. You can repeat three failed rolls per MISSION, one repeat per roll, and the second roll always stands.

Animal Magnetism (1): You have the "WOA DUDE BANG ME" aura, and receive a +1 Bonus on seduction and similar rolls (though this may inspire jealousy in the people who view you as competition).

Nightsight (3): You can see in near-total darkness. You may, however, be sensitive to bright light, and sudden bright light may dazzle you for a turn or two.

Acute Senses - Sight (1): One of your five senses is incredibly sharp, and Alertness rolls involving this sense have a +1 Bonus. You must buy this merit separately for each sense.

Tarot Blessing

If the Tarot card's user is in dire need and under specific circumstances, The tarot card Hero will grant assistance to them with their fight. When the tarot card Hero appears, they are a shadowed out figure that hovers behind or beside their user.. the Hero can only be visible when casting or attacking, otherwise only magic users or spiritualists will be able to see them.
  • The Juggernaut - Galvan pulled the fortune of The Juggernaut champion, Kamina. Kamina is a fierce warrior with a drill that will pierce the HEAVENS!! Currently Kamina only offers one attack for Galvan:
    • Giga Drill Break - Trademark move of Kamina. The technique itself uses an actual piece of equipment called a Giga Drill, formed every time the move is used. The immediate target in front of Galvan is FREAKING DRILLED.
    • Lagann Impact - Second Tarot ability. Kamina appears and throws his ally, Simon (Lagann), like a baseball at the opponent and it drills through enemies.

Items Of Note

Galvan has, stored in his shadow, a small collection of blades and weapons that he picks up from his adventures. Such will be updated as fit:

Longsword
Katana
Filing Blade (a blade without a direct point that is serrated on the flat, to whittle down an ordinary blade)
Yautja/Predator Wristblade Gauntlet (found in mission 47. Wristblade retracts down to the last inch, but extends quite a bit. The metal is strong and surprisingly light.)

Weaknesses & Flaws

Flaws can go here. Balance is key!
Galvan's shadow techniques are more ineffective the darker the room is - in the darkness, unique shadows are less and less noticeable.

Dark Secret (1): (Galvan has killed more people than many have seen - he is repentant about it, but he fears that if people knew who he used to be, and the sort of man he was, that he would be as much of the enemy as anyone.)

Phobia - Insectoids (3): (Any insectile creatures bigger than a dog Galvan has an unhealthy psychomatic reaction to. He will actively avoid and physically shut down around any such thing.)

Sensation Junkie (2): (Galvan likes...herbs. And assorted illegal substances.)

Otherworldly Taint (2): (Other immortals can easily tell that Galvan is immortal from a distance as well - his aura is very different.)

Notoriety (3): (While most of Galvan's past murderous tendencies have been so long ago that the affiliated have since forgotten about him due to generations living and dying since, Galvan Swiftblade is still, on various worlds sprinkled here and there, known as essentially a mob boss and otherwise shady character.)

Allergic - Chitin, Bug Juice (2): (Even when the insectoid isn't present, the mere presence of chitin or bug internal fluids cause Galvan to become extremely combat ineffective. This is entirely psychosomatic.)

Galvan's shadows can be dispelled by bright light directly on them or, conversely, a complete LACK of light. He is, despite his immortality, a human, albeit a fairly tricked out one - a bullet that penetrates his shadows or a particularly powerful attack can still kill him as well as anyone, and he has a knack for overthinking situations, which can lead to him being defeated by very simple techniques.
