Appearance

Asuka is a handsome young man whose sense of fashion fell to the wayside. While he used to dress trendily, more recently, he's taken to wearing hoodies and practical clothes, usually in shades of red and black. He is very athletic and has a sharp look in his eyes. They'd almost look cold, despite their red color, if not for a heated, blazing rage hiding behind them. His appearance, even when maintained, is usually lackadaisical. Even in a suit he'd forgo the tie or leave too many buttons undone.

Personality

Asuka is a generally well meaning, and relatively polite young man, but he has quite a bit of a temper. While he's usually good at following orders or doing what he has to do, his sense of righteousness can and will overtake his sense of duty. More importantly, he is quite hot-blooded, likely to charge in ahead and combat threats head on, unless doing so would compromise others. This being said, getting him enraged isn't especially difficult, and expecting him to calm down when a more complex solution is presented is unlikely to happen.

Background

I dunno some nonsense about dead parents and little sister, also training under Ran Fujimiya.

Special Abilities

Kenjutsu: Asuka is highly trained in swordsmanship. He is exceptionally skilled in both the use of the katana (and all its variants, but specifically the regular one) Asuka could easily go toe to toe with a Kenjutsu master. He had a strong basis of Kenpo back in the day, but after training with Ran Fujimiya, his skills have improved considerably, and he now knows how to fight for real, and is quite aware about the philosophies of kenjutsu. Swords are not for competition. They are meant to kill.

  • Han Aku Ken: Can only be used while in Rage Mode. Using his katana, Asuka can focus a strike so powerful it can either cut through any opponent's defenses, moving so fast and so hard that even other steel gets smashed aside or even cleaved through, or simply striking exactly where the opponent's guard can't reach in time. This is on top of his other enhancements when in Rage mode.

Kodachi Nitou Ryuu: Asuka has learned how to fight with twin kodachi, and uses this as his main form of combat. Combining twin kodachi with punches, knees and kicks, Asuka can control the enemy's range from medium to zero, and is able to take down opponents with better weapons, or in some cases better training, by not letting them get any distance to use their weapons properly, countering his attacks to get them in close and either punching them or stabbing them when in close range, taking control of the exchange.. He is arguably better with the Katana, but for quick dispatches, he favors these.

  • Senko Ken: After having had trouble dealing with opponents at long range, Asuka learned how to throw his kodachi in an arc, at a fairly long range, to take down opponents before they get to him. He can launch them like a curved bladed edge, or he can launch them as a direct javelin or dagger.

Martial Arts: Asuka had dabbled in martial arts before the incident. Mostly Karate and some Judo. When he lost his parents, he threw himself into training intensely, in order to gain his revenge. Having picked up and heightened his skill into adding Jiujitsu (instead of Judo) and Krav Maga into his arsenal. There was only so far he could go with this hodge podge of moves, which is why Ran made him focus on the sword. However, even disarmed, Asuka knows how to handle himself quite well, and this mix of combat skills serves him well in Rage Mode.

  • Hakkei Punch: The culmination of his hand to hand training, can only be used in Rage Mode. When Asuka is at very close range, he can plant his feet, then deliver a single punch, using the full rotation of his body. From his ankles, to his hips, to his waist, to his shoulder, to his elbow, then his wrist. When this connects, the impact is devastating, even without punch visible windup. in Rage Mode, he can do this instantly.

Powers & Merits

Rage Mode: A rare genetic trait, so far only ever observed in as pure a state in one other person, and one corrupted version in another. When true rage takes over Asuka, his rage becomes a physical enhancement with quantifiable augmentations. His reflexes, speed, stamina and combat ability become extraordinary, possibly even superhuman; certainly from the point of view of his body. He reacts faster, can seemingly dodge bullets, and fight multiple opponents of equal or superior skills alone, as if suddenly enhanced enough to fight them as an equal. The obvious drawback to this is the extreme emotional state he has to be in to attain this combat potential. As such, he cannot attain it at will, but he can be triggered into it. Once its been activated, it becomes much easier in the future.

  • Enhanced Strength: While not necessarily superhuman, Asuka can now take hits and strike much harder than his body would indicate. Even his young form being able to fell men several times larger and heavier than he is, and able to take falls from several stories, hit the ground rolling and keep running after his objective.
  • Enhanced Stamina: When activating Rage Mode, Asuka's stamina is seemingly replenished. His body's fatigue toxins get flushed out via sweat almost immediately, his blood now carries double the amount of oxygen as before, whatever sluggishness or tiredness he had seems washed away. It gives him a shot of pure, concentrated adrenaline, allowing him to get back up from a serious disadvantage and keep pushing. This is not any form of healing. Any wounds he had are still active, but if they don't hinder his movements, he can focus through the pain in this form, and more importantly, he will reflexively do nothing to aggravate it.
  • Enhanced Reflexes: Ostensibly the best part of this Rage Mode. Asuka can read people's movements, gets immediate spatial awareness through his kinesthetic sense, and can anticipate practically anything his senses perceive. Due to this, he can immediately adjust his movements, he can do parkour like the world had a clear video game highlight where he can grab and jump, and he can counter and dodge practically anything he spots, including gunfire while moving forward. Coupled with his training, Asuka's Rage Mode makes him a force to be reckoned with even against superior opponents.

Merits

Gall (2pts): Asuka has a lot of gumption, and speaks his mind openly and frankly. While this CAN be grating, his way of speaking tends to make others take pause and think about it, as he doesn't sugarcoat his ideals. (+1 to Social rolls requiring backbone)
Daredevil (3pts): Man Without Fear. Asuka has already lost everything he thinks matters to him, so he doesn't value his life or safety so much. This isn't a death wish, but you can't make him back down and he absolutely will not hesitate to do something foolish if it gets him closer to his revenge, or saving someone.
Iron Will (5pts): Between his Rage Mode triggers, his desire for vengeance, his focus on training and his.. well, bottomless well of rage, really, controlling Asuka is like trying to corral a volcano into calming down. If under any kind of mental control, Asuka can usually shake it off and either direct his fury to the controller, or simply refuse an order given.

Unique Items

Reika's Cellphone: The last thing left of her after the 'incident'.

Items Of Note

Infinite Lake Light - 無毀なる湖光: Asuka's Katana. It was made by a swordmaster and gifted to him by Ran when he managed to score a direct hit in a duel, without his Rage Mode. It's a very sharp and well made Katana, resistant and able to dish out and take a lot of punishment. More importantly, it carries his hopes and ambitions, which can only be granted if he gets his revenge. Other than the fancy name and basicaly carbon-nanotube infused creation, it's just a REALLY good regular Katana.
Twin Kodachi: Asuka's main weapon for regular battle. He has a strong fighting style with it, using counters and the like. These he has multiple versions of, and are of a modern make, without the hand guard, looking more militaristic and functional than ancient. He also has several sets, because these get lost and hold no value to him past the price of purchase.

Weaknesses & Flaws

Unreliable Power: Without the proper training, scientific methods and mental focus, it is impossible to properly quantify and activate Rage Mode. Asuka is limited to how and when he can use his power, needing some form of emotional trigger to activate it. I.E., unless the DM says no, it's not happening.
Hot Blooded: Asuka is, perhaps understandably, a mite upset over things. He does not like having to wait, or to let the lesser of two evils go. It's very easy to get him overly enraged at injustice or callousness. While not always a bad trait to have, it's somewhat less helpful on someone who is, ostensibly, an assassin. Best Served Cold does not apply to Asuka.

Flaws

Hatred - Callousness towards Murder (3pts): Asuka has no patience for people who casually dismiss death, especially death of innocents and family, as no big deal. The death of his family was everything to him, and now he has nothing. Seeing others dismiss this was acceptable or unimportant angers up the blood.
Vengeance - Takatori Family (1pt): This isn't racism towards a bloodline, but Asuka needs to avenge his family's murder, no matter what the cost. If he knows they're involved, he is going to throw himself in 100% to get them killed. He has no 'beef' towards the people who have not cost him anything, such as Omi and Karin.
Flashbacks - Death of his Sister (3pts): Asuka, in situations of high stress, or especially with the death of children or the like, can be sent right back to where and when he was when his Sister died. This can be as distracting or not as the DM wants. But when in this state, or coming back out of it, he is highly susceptible to rage or agitation and impatience.
Nightmares - Death of his Family (0pts): Asuka often wakes up in a cold sweat, screaming his sister's name, then can't go back to sleep. Finding her body parts probably didn't help.
