PARADIGM Firearms

PARADIGM has extensive resources and access to several different weapons, particularly firearms. They maintain a strict policy of not letting agents have access to firearms and weapons from a timeframe other than their standard operational location, however, to avoid the potential for black market sales or having them stolen and used by potential threats, as well as keeping the technology level of each given world stable.

Nonlethal Weapons

• Name: Tentatively named "Sandman" PFI (Psychic Field Inhibitor)
  • Features: Zero recoil, armor-piercing, laser targeting. Not optimized for customization. Beam is visible (opalescent) in air and vacuum.
  • Effects: Generates a psychic field inhibition field in a six-inch-wide beam that bypasses solid armor. The field causes loss of conscious awareness and control over anything caught in the beam, but does not inhibit unconscious behaviors such as reflex actions, breathing, heart function, etc. Inhibition of the head will cause unconsciousness; the sensation is not numbness, but of a lack of sensation and focus, like the opposite of a Phantom Limb. Effects last 2-10 minutes, depending on individual psychic characteristics. Likely to have no effect on machines or other entities with no psychic field (e.g. artificially animated skeletons), and telepaths may be able to defend against the effect if they anticipate it.
  • Firing Rate: Fires a beam. At full charge, can fire for three seconds continuously; internal power source automatically restores one second of firing time in ten seconds. This allows continuous firing with cautious use, as well as liberal use in emergencies.
