Personality

Tall, dark and brooding. Always serious and stoic in his manners and how he carries himself. He is utterly dedicated to the one called the "Girl of Water". When she is safe and happy, that is when he is as well (although he is really good at not showing it). He is known to look happy/relaxed when camping or cooking by campfire. He was born and raised in the isolated Hani village in the mountains of Nagano, so he had little interaction with modern technology and the akani's (normal humans) way of life.

Background

The Beginning

In ancient times, a world of order and peace was achieved through a natural philosophy known as Amanarimichi. That philosophy states the world is comprised of the five elements: Utsuho (Sky), Hani (Earth), Kaze (Wind), Ho (Fire) and Mizu (Water). All things in nature come from the five elements, and all things will eventually return to them.

Of course, humans were also born from and would return to the cycle of the five elements. And were not independent of this natural law. In the world view of Amanarimichi, there is no difference in status between humans and other plants and animals, humans are merely a portion of nature, nothing more.

Humans, who are the proper descendants of the Gods in Heaven, were originally all one species of the Hani clan, or Earth people. But as the Earth changed, its land masses moving and shifting, groups of humans became spread out across the Earth, seperated from one another. Each group experienced evolution particular to their respective land. And so it was that 5,000 years ago, five seperate clans known as the Kegai no Tami came into existence. The Kegai no Tami abided by Amanarimichi, and, respecting the spirit of order and peace, they built a civilization ideally balanced with nature.

Each of the Kegai no Tami possessed a power emanating from one of the five elements, so: the Hani clan has the power of Earth, the Mizu clan has the power of Water, the Ho clan has the power of Fire, the Kaze clan has the power of Wind, the Utsuho clan has the power of Sky.

But with the advancement of civilization, the Kegai no Tami gradually began to forget the teachings of Amanarimichi, and lost the spirit of living in harmony with nature and with that, they began to lose their powers as well.

In other words, they became normal human beings.

The Arrival of the 88 Beasts

Then, 1,000 years ago, a group whose presence defied the laws of Amanarimichi suddenly appeared upon the Earth. These beings would not return to the five elements. The preferred the taste of murder and destruction.. they were monstrous devils that destroyed the order and peace in the world, they were the 88 Beasts. The beasts quickly went on a rampage of destruction. The humans, having lost their powers, put up a desperate struggle but found themselves on the brink of total annihilation.

Then five warriors appeared and stood before the 88 Beasts.. Displaying immense powers, they banished the Beasts to another dimension and sealed the portal. They were the pure blood descendants of the Kegai no Tami, the Matsurowanu Kegai no Tami.

The 88 Beasts were vanquished by the Matsurowanu Kegai no Tami, but just before the portal to the other dimension was sealed, the Beasts cast a spell.. manipulating the genetic makeup of the Utsuho-bito, Ho-bito, and Kaze-bito. They were able to hypnotize their respective descendants. When the evil spiritual magnetic energy on Earth had reached its zenith, 1,000 years hence, those descendants would be driven to resurrect the 88 Beasts.

When that day came, and the zenith was reached, the Utsuho-bito, Ho-bito, and Kaze-bito turned against their fellow Kegai no Tami and became slaves loyal to the 88 Beast, thus betraying the Hani-bito and Mizu-bito. The 88 Beasts had been banished to the other dimension through five transmission points for powerful spiritual energy, known as Torii. The five Kegai no Tami clans reside in the vicinity of their respective torii as guardian's against natural disasters and human intervention, which might damage the torii.

The clans loyal to the Beasts know that if the torii are destroyed, the 88 Beasts will be free to return to the Earth. But the torii were constructed from the bones of five of the Beasts. They are incomparably durable, and impervious to any physical attack. There is only one way to destroy the torii: applying to each of them the blood of the Matsurowanu Kegai no Tami guarding them. The blood of the Matsurowanu Kegai no Tami can melt the bones. The reason the three Kegai no Gami clans loyal to the Beasts have targeted the Hani and Mizu clans is to discover their homeground torii and draw their blood...

Skills

(These include all learned skills, as well as a relative rating from Abyssmal to Amazing. The character's level of mastery in something that can be taught or at least rated by other people follows the scale: Abyssmal, Novice, Good, Very Good, Incredible, Amazing)

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PUT A RANK FOR -EVERY- SKILL. Just fill out the stuff you think your character would have! Feel free to add other skills that you think your character should be noted for. (Ex: Speaking French)

Physical Skills:

  • Alertness (How alert you are.): Incredible (Augmented to Amazing with the Earth stone if carried with him)
  • Athletics (Jumping, Climbing, Flexibility.. you know.): Incredible (Augmented to Amazing with the Earth stone if carried with him)
  • Stealth (Sneaking! Breaking in, etc etc.): Very good

Social Skills:

  • Subterfuge (Manipulation, Lying..): Good
  • Streetwise (How well you know the hood, man.): Novice
  • Intimidation (though I guess if you can punch a car over this can be physical..): Incredible
  • Leadership (Stepping it up for a group.)
  • Expression: Very Good
  • Ettiquette: Good
  • Performance

Mental Skills:

  • Computers (no. I'm serious. If you don't know what one is, you will NOT just 'pick it up on the fly')
  • Investigation (as in proper, scientific investigation. Anyone can ask questions or notice out of place things, it takes a real Holmes or House to do this perfectly): Good
  • Medicine
  • Law
  • Occult: Very Good
  • Politics
  • Science

Other Skills:

  • Driving (arguably physical, but..)
  • Survival (as in wilderness): Amazing
  • Empathy (some people have more than others)
  • Animal Ken (some people get along better with dogs than people, I guess)
  • Cooking: Very Good
  • Hand-to-Hand Combat: Very Good

Special Abilities

(These are skills, things that can be learned or trained, like martial arts techniques, Jutsu or magic spells. Abilities that are outside the norm of regular humans, but only because they have not had access to them.)

Powers & Merits

  • Matsurowanu Kegai no Tami race attributes: (with the Earth stone in hand, each of these traits are taken a step higher)
    • Enhanced Strength
    • Enhanced Speed
    • Enhanced Durability
  • Hani (Earth) Village Kenjutsu

Merits (Unique, or hereditary, in-born powers, whether due to genetics or magic, things that can't be taught to others or simply gifted to this person from an outside force. Powers based on weapons should go in the Items. Merits can also go here.)

  • Faction Favorite (2): Someone of a tribe/clan/tradition/whatever favor you and will do a good deal to get on your good side, possibly to bring you over to them, especially if you're currently disparate. Note this probably means they expect greatness of you, so don't disappoint them. You get a +2 Bonus on rolls when dealing with this faction unless you critically screw up your opening line and interactions (Being a friend of the Black Panthers and going 'WAZZAP N*GGAAAAAAZ!' when you walk in might make them a little colder to you.). Referred to as "Young Master" at the Hani Village, he is the pride of the Earth tribe.
  • Iron Will (5): You cannot be mind-controlled easily, and getting you to surrender is borderline impossible. When magical (or other) mind-control is attempted on you, both roll and you get a +3 bonus to your roll. It's possible to do it, but you'll fight it with every fiber of your being, and will not stay in thrall very long.
  • Loyalty (1): You are devoted to a person, group, or cause, and easily resist attempts to persuade you away from the object of your loyalty. Any attempts to make you betray this person/cause/whatever is done with an opposed roll where you get a +2 bonus. Again, like the code of honor, you must always be loyal to this person or risk losing this benefit. He is loyal to the Girl of Water, as he has been for the past 1000 years.

Unique Items

(Madougu, magical weapons or other unique or special weapons, as well as all techniques related to them, as without it technically the character is NOT able to use these abilities.)

  • Kami Kaze: The legendary supernatural katana forged by Kamuro's grandfather and passed down to him. It can summon and absorb restless spirits/ghosts to increase the katana's power. It has been seen to absorb energy blasts as well. The sword has a sad history revolving its power..
  • Earth Stone necklace: Born clutching this stone in his hand. The Earth stone has strong, magical properties. He says it heightens his instinct. In reality, whenever Kamuro closes his eyes it allows Kamuro to read the mind of others and 'see' predicted attacks. The stone also acts like a strength and speed enhancer.
  • Clay Dolls: Kamuro can create life-like clay dolls that will explode when someone touches them. They can even mimic emotion or a simple gesture to give the dolls appearance of life.

Items Of Note

Weaknesses & Flaws

Flaws can go here. Balance is key!

  • Because of his unwavering loyalty to the Girl of Water and his isolated upbringing, he is only focused on keeping her safe at all times, with the exception of his own self-preservation to carry out his duties to her. For example in one fight, there were human bystanders when he was fighting a cybernetically-enhanced Kegai No Tami. Kamuro dodged the bullets, allowing them to hit a few of the bystander. The bystanders asked why isn't he protecting them, and Kamuro responded why would he.
  • Received special training to take up the Kami Kaze and fight against the 88 Beasts, enemies can not make Kamuro appeal to his emotions because of his training to block them out. Shown on various occassions, the most particularly horrific event involved having members of his Earth village being killed in front of him when trying to force Kamuro to reveal location of the Earth Village's torii (dimensional gate that is holding the 88 Beasts). However, he will budge if anyone related/connected to the Girl of Water is endangered (since he only wants to keep her safe and happy at all times).

Flaws

  • Overconfident (1): You think you can do everything even though you probably can't, and you try to prove your belief as often as possible. Too much reliance on the Earth stone lulz.
  • Isolated Upbringing (1): You were raised in your supernatural society, or were somehow otherwise sequestered away from "normal" life, so you have trouble dealing with this Outside-World thing. Dealing with any community outside the one in which you were raised raises a -1 Penalty on Social rolls, when RP'ing accomodates it. Born and raised in an isolated mountain village, 'nuff said.
  • Group Enmity (2): Some group amongst your kind, i.e. another clan/tribe/tradition/whatever, doesn't like you and may prevent you going places you might otherwise go or may otherwise give you hell in a variety of ways. The bane of the 88 Beasts, they desire nothing but the destruction of Kamuro and the other Kegai no Tami tribes.
