Appearance

Kenji is very fair - thin, pale-skinned, contrasting his long, flowing blue hair. He takes very good care of himself - to the point that he is what one would call 'dangerously good looking'.

Personality

Quiet and softspoken, Kenji loves conversation and will happily - but quietly - speak about most any topic at length. He's fairly outgoing but knows when to shut up, having mastered the form of wordplay. He's usually smiling - typically a happy bunny.

Background

Kakita Kenji was born to two samurai far, far back 10th century feudal Japan; two samurai of opposing clans, which caused Kenji no small amount of struggle, as he sought to prove himself worthy of either clan. The Crane Clan, his father's house, proved the hardest to integrate with fully, due to a heavy distrust of his upbringing - his mother was of the highly distrustful Scorpion Clan, and his descent dogged him at every step.

After a fortune decreed that his son would die at the hands of a masked individual - masks being the key identifier of the Scorpion Clan - Kenji's father, with the begrudging support of his mother, decided it would be best to send Kenji away from the rank and file to focus on his schooling; both that of the iaijutsu duelist and that of the Crane diplomat, as his father before him. Kenji excelled without distraction; he honed his skills, took care of his body, mind, and soul in order to beat this illusion with a mask the fortune-teller had so tauntingly (in his mind) put before him. He rose through the ranks of the Doji and Kakita schools both, becoming an exceptional combatant and diplomat both.

Quiet but skilled, Kenji was constantly in the middle of great exploits on his world - some adventures even took him away from this world, giving him experiences in other dimensions, glimpses into other realities. Unable to understand this phenomenon, Kenji hid it from everyone on his world - all he learned was kept secret. However, due to his upbringing, and his father's desire to hide him from his illusionary enemies, he never gained the credit that he felt he'd earned - until he stepped through a phone booth.

Special Abilities

Kenji is a proud diplomat, fully trained to be able to talk to hostile, neutral, and friendly parties in peacetime and war alike. His appearance is kept in its highest regard for his craft, and he has mastered many languages to good effect. Kenji is also skilled with the katana, both in iaijutsu (the art of killing or disabling in one stroke) and kenjutsu (sword arts in general), and is an accomplished duelist.

Kenji is a vigorous learner, and is impossibly adept at learning new sword techniques - in his travels, he's found many styles beyond that of his father's standard Kakita ways, and he strives to attempt to learn them all. He will readily accept training.

[Moonlight Cut] Utilizing iaijutsu, Kenji takes one step forward, trying to come as adjacent to as many foes as possible, before drawing his blade in one huge arc - the flow of energy causes a crescent moon to appear, and hits several enemies within range. Not as effective on a single target. Learned from another world.

[Kasumi] Kenji spends a turn in a guard stance. If an opponent moves in to attack him, Kenji quickly focuses all of his energy into dodging that attack, spinning to the side, then back, and with great speed slashing across the opponent's midsection before he can react. Learned from another world.

[Geyser Thrust] Kenji slashes downward with his blade, shooting a ground projectile of pure energy at his opponent. Learned from a man named Jubei in a similar world.

Powers & Merits

(Unique, or hereditary, in-born powers, whether due to genetics or magic, things that can't be taught to others or simply gifted to this person from an outside force. Powers based on weapons should go in the Items. Merits can also go here.)
Self-Confident (5): One free successful roll during a mission, due to the strength of your self-confidence. This only comes into effect regarding rolls at difficulty 6 or higher. As with other rolls, this does not apply in combat (as your enemy is probably just as sure of himself as you are), but when it's time to get something done, you -know- it comes down to you.

Common Sense (1): You are full of practical wisdom. A great merit for starting characters, as you may receive advice from the GM regarding how to handle certain situations.

Animal Magnetism (1): You have the "WOA DUDE BANG ME" aura, and receive a +1 Bonus on seduction and similar rolls (though this may inspire jealousy in the people who view you as competition). This is a Merit seldom taken seriously in the Chat Rooms, as it's been too often used by players whose intent is seldom gaming...

Culture Knack (3): You have a knack for fitting in wherever you are, and though you may not know them beforehand, you pick up on customs quickly. In appropriate situations, your social difficulties may be lowered, or you may be able to recover from a botched roll with another roll at normal difficulty.

Natural Linguist (2): You're good with languages and language structures. +2 Bonus on all language and translation rolls, but you can't know anymore languages than the ones you have listed on your sheet.

Unique Items

(Madougu, magical weapons or other unique or special weapons, as well as all techniques related to them, as without it technically the character is NOT able to use these abilities.)
Kenji carries a regular katana blade that he does not wish to speak of. The reason is simple - he does not feel that he has done enough honor to the blade, and as such is searching for a weapon that reflects his own self within.

Items Of Note

Kenji likes his tea set.

Weaknesses & Flaws

Dark Fate (5): You are doomed to suffer a horrible demise, or otherwise have some sort of icky unpleasant fate. You are aware of this, and can kinda make you rather depressed... (Haunted by an ill fortune, Kenji is well aware that treachery from a man with a mask will cause his direct demise.)

Code of Honor (1): You follow a strict personal code, and any attempt to make you break it or act against it via magic or other unnatural coercion (regular coercion is basically impossible) is done with an opposed roll in which you have a +2 bonus. You must write down your code of honor with a GM, and it must be followed at all times. If you break it for frivolous or even worthy reasons, you risk losing your bonuses, because a Code is to be followed for good or ill. (If Kenji is engaged with any enemy, no matter who it is, if they sheathe their weapon and cease open hostility first - i.e. a surrender - then Kenji must, be Dueling Code, also sheathe his weapon and find a non-combative solution.)

Intolerance (1): You have difficulty tolerating a specific thing or type of person, and are likely to snap at them and be dismissive. (Kenji has a severe intolerance towards people that wear masks - partially because of his Dark Fate that predicts his death by a man with a mask, and partially due to his own ideals.)
