Background

Yu was raised between two countries, worlds apart: The Midchilda administrative region, and the country of Japan. When given the choice between a normal Japanese education or a more vocation-oriented magical education in Midchilda, he chose the latter. He was always good at guessing test questions and consistently scored at the top of his class.

His father used to wield the dark arts of Devil Summoning through a device granted unto him by the outer god Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos. He ended up leaving that device in the hands of a magical technology development firm named Caledfwlch Technics for safekeeping and further study. Calefwlch personnel made an attempt to transfer the device's programming to a new, more benign Intelligent Device, but they underestimated the dark power contained within those simple lines of programming. The device went out of control and nearly ruined the development lab it was stored in. As a freshly recruited devicer specialist, Yu was brought to the scene on his own request, and somehow, he managed to get the device under control and bond with it.

Since then, Yu has mastered the techniques of contacting demons, forming pacts with them, and summoning and releasing them at will. The Dimensional Administration Bureau is very squeamish about this being put to use for any formal purpose, and so Yu has turned to freelancing instead.

Intelligent Devil Summoning Device FAUX

An Intelligent Device is a magical artifact with a built-in semi-autonomous AI system to regulate its functions. They have an idle form, usually a piece of jewelry, and an active mode to use during combat. Faux's idle form is an HUD monocle. Its active mode is an ornate, enhanced metal scythe.

Faux possesses several traits unique to it, in addition to more traditional combat abilities.

• Weapon Modes: Retractable scythe on one end, long barrel rifle on the other
• Barrier Jacket: Manifests a magically imbued set of clothes around the wielder. These clothes represent a personal barrier, and even areas left exposed by this clothing are protected by the same barrier.

• Demonic Pact: Enables the user to establish contracts with willing demons. The language of these contracts can be summarized as an agreement to digitally preserve a creature's signature and summon it for combat until such time as either side chooses to end the contract.
• Devil Digitization: Able to digitally record and recall the signature of supernatural creatures that form pacts with Yu.
• Devil Summoning: Capable of summoning any creature whose signature is stored within its contract archives, even when that creature is elsewhere at the time.
• Digital Preservation: As long as a signature is preserved within Faux's databanks, it will not perish, even if the creature takes an otherwise mortal blow. Instead, the creature will be de-summoned and sustained by Faux's own energy.

• Freidyne: A spell which hits a group of enemies with a nuclear elemental explosion of energy.
