A little Ditzy. Reserved but cheerful. Seems friendly and harmless, Perhaps an easy target.

Background

Much like her mother Yomiko, she has a strange fascination with literature to the point being a bibliophile. This is possibly due to the fact that she herself is also a Paper Master. Always curious and knowledge hungry She excelled in her schooling. Later in life she became a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) News correspondent. She picked up many of her investigative, language and cultural skills here. She has also at one time worked for the Prime Minster as a personal translator. Eventually she would find herself working for the Section 6 Military Intelligence Agency (MI6) Though not as a field agent, More for the fact of her linguist skills. She also has worked in the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), So she is a decently accomplished actress.

Starting from a young age, She began amassing her rather large collection of books, The subjects varying wildly. Science fiction, Novels History books, manuals cooking books... just about anything with text she is likely to pick up and start reading. Though with the invention of digital books she still prefers good old physical media, Because of this.. her room is a mess, completely and utterly filled with books. you are likely to bump into things and knock over stacks trying to get around her room.

Kimiko was born with the power of paper users. Though she had not always known this fact. It was during her years as a middle schooler that she would discover her power over paper. One day she had been very engrossed in a book she had gotten from the school library. Not paying attention she wandered out into traffic with out noticing at first ...till a truck was practically on top of her, about to run her down. In a panic she threw her book into the air .. which it then exploded and plastered the entire vehicle in paper and tethered it to the street, stopping it abruptly. Learning that her daughter shared the same abilities has herself Yomiko decided to teach her to hone these abilities.

  • Fencing: The one weapon style she is actually familiar with is Saber fencing.
  • HyperPolyglot: Polyglotism is the ability to master numerous languages. Multilingualism is a word with a similar meaning.Richard Hudson, professor emeritus of linguistics at University College London, coined the term "hyperpolyglot" for a person who can speak twelve or more languages fluently. There are many theories to explain the existence of polyglotism in some individuals, including differences in intellect and brain structure.

Powers & Merits

  • Paper Master: A papermaster (In Japanese 紙使い|kamitsukai) is one who has telekinetic control over paper. Also referred to as Paper Users, which may mean the same thing, or "master" may be applied to more skilled users.Paper manipulation needs a strong will to use. If a paper user has any doubt in his abilities, he will be unable to accomplish more advanced feats. If a paper user is knocked unconscious, the paper under his control is released and can be moved by anyone.

Paper users vary in strength and ability, given the nature of paper. Paper users can:

  • Form sharp blades with the edge of the paper
  • Form shields, some powerful enough to defend from bullets and bombs (Given sufficient amounts of paper.)
  • Form simple weapons such as swords, staves and arrows
  • Form and control large objects such as planes and boats. (Given sufficient amounts of paper. And not overly complex like Maggie Mui is capable of.)
  • Mentally throw paper at an opponent
  • Trace people with paper, sometimes over great distances (Note: this is only if Kimiko has planted paper on them, just cause they have paper doesn't mean she can track them.)
  • 'Chain' pages to form strong whips and ropes
  • Forge documents
  • Create clothing
  • Iron Will (5): You cannot be mind-controlled easily, and getting you to surrender is borderline impossible. When magical (or other) mind-control is attempted on you, both roll and you get a +3 bonus to your roll. It's possible to do it, but you'll fight it with every fiber of your being, and will not stay in thrall very long.
  • Eidetic Memory (2): Having a "photographic" memory, you can accurately recall any sight or sound with a successful Alertness roll. The higher you roll the more you remember. You also rarely forget -anything-.
  • Culture Knack (3): You have a knack for fitting in wherever you are, and though you may not know them beforehand, you pick up on customs quickly. In appropriate situations, your social difficulties may be lowered, or you may be able to recover from a botched roll with another roll at normal difficulty.

Items Of Note

  • Collection of random books.

Weaknesses & Flaws

  • Conditional Magic (3):
  • Requires Paper: No Paper no Power
  • Fire: paper still remains flammable
  • Water: if paper is too wet, it cannot be used
  • Sound: some sound frequencies are known to nullify paper abilities (these frequencies also seem to cause pain in paper users and others with superhuman powers)
  • Sensation Junkie (2)::Reading Likely to drop whatever she is doing to read a new novel. (Diff 6 to resist)
  • Compulsion (1): Acquire more reading material
  • Airhead (1): Maybe you have trouble paying attention, maybe you're just clueless, maybe you just look like a flake; no matter what, people don't take you seriously. You generally have a -1 Social rolls penalty when dealing with serious/dire situations.
  • Bad Sight (1): Difficulties for sight-related rolls are at -1 Penalty, and you suffer from night blindness. This can be corrected with glasses, but then it's just a 1pt flaw.
  • Soft-hearted (1): You can't stand to witness suffering, and if you do, all your rolls are at -2 penalty for the next hour.
  • Won't use lethal force as a first option: A step below the Life Saver Flaw, Kimiko will rather go for a take down and restraint, even knock outs. While not entirely against killing if it is necessary, she prefers not to.
  • Power Dependant: While she has access to her 'Papermancy' She is fairly powerful, However her powers can be locked out through various means. If that happens she becomes no more powerful then the average person. She does have SOME combat training outside her Paper abilities.. but hardly worth mentioning.
