Kenku Sensei: Can teach advanced forms of Iaijutsu and Kenjutsu.

- Kenku teachings:Kenku were legendary swordsmen and were, at least in legend, responsible for training some of the most famous Rokugani swordsmen in history. It was said that if a Kenku should take on a student, that person had a great destiny, for the Kenku did not waste their time in the mortal realm on the mediocre. Although the majority of the tales are myth, there are some truth to those tales. Only humans of very high honour and who are in good reputation with the kenku can actually be accepted by the very rare kenku sensei. As the kenku predate humanity, the kenku style of swordsmanship is a developed, graceful art, which can be incredibly deadly form to those who come up against it. The kenku themselves are not a violent race, but use the studies of kenjutsu and iaijutsu as a mechanism to expand on self-exploration instead of implementing them as martial styles. The Kenku School techniques emphasize quickness and swiftness of attacks, combined with hitting the very soul of their opponents as well as their body.
- Kenjutsu General Teachings:The practice was largely done in the form of kata and by actual cutting and thrusting of the blade against water-soaked rolled mats and bamboo poles called tameshigiri. The practice tool was either a bokken (wooden sword), iaito (unsharpened steel sword), or shinken (live blades such as katana). A common misconception of practitioners and observers alike was that the bokken was used for safety when performing two-man kata. In fact, the wooden sword was used to minimize the chance of damaging the blade of a steel sword. Some schools of kenjutsu had adopted the shinai (bamboo sword) for safety reasons
- Iaijutsu General Teachings:Iaijutsu, "fast draw", was the ancient art of personal dueling. Disputes that could not otherwise be resolved were finalized with a duel. The victor was proved correct, and the loser shamed.
Iaijutsu was a martial art that trained the motions associated with drawing a katana, striking an opponent, flicking blood from the blade, and then re-sheathing the katana with one fluidly controlled movement. Devised by Kakita, iaijutsu was dominated by the philosophy that a single, perfect cut was all one needed to be victorious in combat. Iaijutsu was the standard technique for duels within Rokugan and a signature trait of trained duelists, such as the Kenshinzen. The iaijutsu techniques could also be applied to standard combat, but they were not quite as versatile as kenjutsu techniques, such as niten.The primary emphasis was on the psychological state of being present. The secondary emphasis was on drawing the sword and attacking as quickly as possible. Starting positions could be from combative postures or from everyday sitting or standing positions. The ability to react quickly from different starting positions was considered essential for a samurai.
A very important part of iai, sometimes called the 'life of iai', was nukitsuke. This was a very quick draw accomplished by drawing the sword from of the saya (scabbard) while drawing the saya itself back (saya biki). The blade could be brought out of the scabbard and used in a slashing motion very quickly using nukitsuke.
