Background

Shuuichi Minamino met Chidori Kuruma during a war for the fate of the world, going on in 1999. They wound up getting caught up in the confrontation between the Dragons of Earth and Dragons of Heaven. After that battle happened, they settled down together, and wound up having a child, Kamui. Kamui was well loved, but had to be raised in secrecy, especially from the Mikage Corporation, and the agents of Ragnaleck. Due to his parents' origins and allies, however, that was relatively simple. Hearing tales of his father as a great thief, Kamui wound up deciding to not compete with that, and decided to become the world's greatest detective.
A few years later, however, he was swept up in a disturbance that wound him on a world of Devils, where he got to put his investigative skills and special powers to good use, hunting devils.

Powers & Merits

Half-Youkai: Kamui is a half-youkai, on his father's side. He has the regular advantages of this kind, meaning an extended lifespan, where whatever is human in him will age out and he will turn into a full youkai (in theory) eventually. He also has exceptional hardiness, resilience, and is hard to harm via conventional means when he uses his Youki to protect himself. A stronger force of Reiki or Youki can damage him, but standard attacks or regular Ki will probably not do much more than displace him.

  • Enhanced Physical Abilities: Kamui does not have super strength per-se, but his strikes using youki are more devastating than his size or musculature would belie. On top of that, he has phenomenal endurance, blinding speed, and extraordinary resilience to most types of physical damage.
  • Spirit Senses: As a youkai, Kamui has enhanced senses (the Fox part of him), and a sixth sense allowing him to sense for youki, reiki, and other types of supernatural energies, as well as being able to vaguely gauge how strong someone is, though that one is subjective. A more trained fighter can hide it from him, and someone much stronger than him can't be gauged all that well.

Plant Control: Kamui's Kitsune power is control over plants. Unlike a full blooded youkai with this kind of power, he cannot generate plants from his youki. He can, however, accelerate growth and channel his youki through plants, allowing him to use plants as weapons, use them to spy on others, and use them to expand his sensory range. He has a few techniques linked to this power, specifically, but he has general control over plants within his line of sight as well, letting him turn vines or branches into independent attackers.

  • Grass Blades: Kamui can turn grass into blades. Knives, swords, scissors, spears, what have you. He generally uses them as knives for CQC, but he can also throw them with deadly accuracy, filled with youki, making them as sharp and hard as any type of steel, and able to damage supernatural beings.
  • Plant Weapons: A catch all term for what he uses as weapons. He can toss roses like throwing daggers, use leaves as shuriken, use bark as a shield, etc. Generally any kind of weapon can me made from even the smallest piece of a plant, so even a tiny branch in his hand is as deadly as a spear or a naginata.
  • Fuuka Embuzin: His father's technique. Kamui spreads out rose or sakura petals around himself, leaving them floating dramatically in the air like it was a shojo romance story. However, the petals are like razor wire, and the slightest touch is going to cut. Someone trapped in this technique has to stay perfectly still or risk getting sliced to ribbons.
  • Mind-Altering Pollen: A last resort-type technique, but Kamui can put someone to sleep, use a paralytic attack, or even hypnotize and erase their memories for a short period of time (Amnesia Pollen). This requires a lot of control and focus, however. The sleep or paralysis attack is a fire and forget attack, assuming no allies get caught in it, but the amnesia pollen would require some time, peace and quiet. It isn't just a 'blow in their face and walk away' type technique, as it takes some time to affect someone. It works better if they're already unconscious.

Heavenly Maiden Powers: Kamui's mother is a Celestial Maiden, or Heavenly Maiden, or what have you. At great spiritual expenditure, Kamui can transform into someone with those powers, albeit for a short time only. In this form, his energy is closer to divine ki (seiouki) than youki, and he gains the ability to generate holy lightning, which is normally crackling around him when active. His hair and eye color changes, and while he does not get 'stronger', per se, if he is fighting against demons, youkai, or other infernal-type beings, his mere presence is upsetting to them, and his attacks far more damaging. He cannot take this form for very long, and it drains him MUCH faster than his youkai powers do, so it's a bit of a last resort.

  • Lightning Blast: Basically what it says. Kamui can shoot lightning from his hand, finger, or what have you, at a target, and blast them with holy lightning. If they get hit, they will take damage like being struck by a lightning bolt.
  • Raika Embuzin: Named after his father's technique, and something closer to what his mother does, Kamui releases holy lightning around himself expanding outwards, trying to hit anyone around him in a storm of lightning arcs. This is much more draining than the low-power 'Fuuka Embuzin', and more than his standard Lightning Blast, but it also has a much higher chance of catching one or more opponents around him. Normally, using this will turn him back to his normal form rather quickly. If he forces himself to do two, he will collapse, drained of power and needing to sleep ASAP. This is a last ditch attack, but with the speed of lightning and the power he releases, it is normally a good way to do damage to even a more powerful foe.

Weaknesses & Flaws

Dual Nature: Kamui's genetics are.. strange. Due to this, he cannot switch back and forth between his different natures at will. It can only be done at a considerable expenditure of energy, and they do not overlap. When he is in his basic form (Half-Youkai), he has all the limitations of what that entails. Transforming into his Celestial form takes a lot of energy, and he normally uses it if necessary or to take out a youkai, devil or other supernatural whose power overwhelms his normal form, because when he turns once, he can't turn back without rest. He cannot 'Charlotte! Jonathan! Charlotte! Jonathan!' switch at will, and normally once or twice a day (if he's pushing it and there was a few hours of break between them) is the most he can do. Regardless, when he turns into a Tennyou form, he will be drained and exhausted when he turns back to normal.
Youkai: For all the advantages of being a youkai, there are drawbacks. Holy and purification attacks can harm him much more than they normally would hurt a normal human. He is susceptible to lesser wards placed by Priests or Onmyouji. Holy healing can harm him. Some areas (blessed places, consecrated grounds, spiritual barriers of sufficient power) can be barred to him, etc.
Secret Nature: If Kamui's Celestial nature is revealed, it is likely that he will be targeted by groups such as Ragnaleck and the Mikage Corporation. This is not as much of an issue on a world where they don't exist, but on his world, or any alternate world where they find out about him, he could become a target, especially if he does not have Kurama and his allies protecting him.
