			Mireya was becoming pretty good at ghost hunting. Whenever faced with a difficult spirit, she would steel herself and take it to task- either finally convincing it to move on, or entrapping it in whatever accessory she had at the time. Eventually, she would purchase silver crosses from a small novelty shop at a regular basis- using them as the binding objects. No matter what spirits she could encounter, though, none ever came up as grotesque and odd as the one she first bound.

			She began to become almost obsessed with that first spirit. She never discovered its history, but she always referred to it as El Hombre Destrozado (The Shredded Man,) due to its appearance. In her obsession, she began to take on more and more cases regarding volatile spirits, hoping to run across another like him. She would only take the calmer, researching cases if she needed the extra funding.

			Finally, the stereotypical ghost hunter case came into her inbox. A mansion is for sale, but the owners (who have since moved out) are concerned that there is a malicious spirit lurking inside, making it unsellable. The church tried to exorcise the ghost, but failed. They are getting desperate, and are turning to Mireya to get it resolved. Of course, she accepted.

			She arrived at the mansion, to do research primarily, to see what she was dealing with. What she found surprised, and disgusted, her. There was more than one ghost living within the property. Many were adults, but there were also children. None of them looked like they had died peacefully. There were many rude, uncouth spirits in the bunch... but none were as malicious as had been described by the owners. She asked the tortured spirits about what had happened, and if they knew of what was causing the disturbances. In a home of more than twenty ghosts none answered. Several made themselves immediately undetectable at the questioning. Mireya was unsettled at that response, but she had a job to do. If it was that bad, then she had to get the innocent spirits out.

			It was when she began persuading the ghosts to move on, that it introduced itself. It was strong, too. Mireya had just sent off a child to the other world, and was about to send another one, when- out of nowhere- she was tackled out of protective ward and pinned down! She still couldn't see it. That's when she began yelling for help. The ghosts who were around heard her. Some were still afraid, and did nothing, however there were others who felt bad for the human woman, and aided her. They pulled the creature- whatever it was- off of her, and beckoned her to run. She hesitated, picking herself up, but the ghosts who were helping were insistent. One grabbed her hand and actually began leading her away. "Come to us in your dreams," it whispered harshly. As it literally her out. The doors shut closed behind her.

			She had no clue what the ghost meant by "Come to us in your dreams." Speaking with a friend, a woman named Nina with whom she had met doing some research on El Homebre Destrozado, about what happened, Nina suggested astral walking. It seemed to fit.

	She now hunts the paranormal- sometimes with Vidal, or a different group, or sometimes on her own as she gets tips. She's not just interested in sitting in haunted houses, either. She will go rock climbing, spelunking, or hiking, if she thinks its worth it for some mystery she's working on- although she often has accompaniment on the more physical excusions. Over time, she has accumulated a collection of other items from her journeys. Some useful, some just mementos. 			After dropping out of college, she had nowhere else to go, so she stayed (and hooked up with) Vidal for a while. As he taught, she did more research. Madrid, being as large of a city as it was, had its own supernatural history. Mireya, being as unemployed as she was, went looking for it.

			Using some of her ties from Vidal's ghost hunting group, she began doing some local jobs. They were fairly simple. Research, determinate, and, if necessary, ask to move on. She spent the first few months with easy spirits who just didn't know they could move on. She earned her half of the rent by doing this.

			And then, she got her first difficult ghost. This one was a dangerous one who was known to throw items in each room of the home it stayed in. The home it was in was so old, and had so many people die in it, that it was difficult to tell who the spirit was. Mireya sought out help. One of her ghost hunting ties taught her how to create a circle of protection, that would not allow any ghosts to cross its borders. Even though she would be protected, she still needed to find some way to interact with the ghost, and allow the family of the home peace. After questioning the ghost hunting team, she was led, of places, to a small church. The pastor there was more open-minded, and advised Mireya that sometimes, just sometimes, you need to fight the spirits, or even jail them. He taught Mireya how to bind a spirit to an object, though warned that once bound, the spirit will be bound to it forever until it decides it is time to move on. If the item the spirit is bound to is destroyed, it will become free to roam again.

			She set up shop in the home, created her warding circle in the center of the first floor, and asked the ghost to show itself. It took a few tries, but it finally did- by throwing a book at her. She tried talking to it, coaxing it to move on, but it seemed to get more and more violent. Finally, she determined she would have to do as the pastor recommended and bind it. So, following his instructions, she eventually bound the spirit to the book it threw at her. It was a horrific sight. The ghost had managed to keep itself invisible until the binding was finally done, and when she was able to see the spirit, it had a hollowed out face, absolutely no defining features, and its body seemed to be slashed to ribbons, but mysteriously held together.

			Though the ghost was still very much active, and kept reminding her of the fact, Mireya was now able to physically remove it from the home. Not wanting to risk anyone accidentally finding the book and taking it back to their homes, she locked the book into a lock box, and took the box on a long drive, after which she buried it in the forest. Bruised up from all the items the ghost kept throwing at her, Mireya decided to take a break from the hunting for a while, and do some further research on things beyond ghosts.

			At about this same time, things were shaky between her and Vidal, and her income was pretty good- given her specialization- so she moved out into an apartment on her own.

Mireya could not see the ghost through the monitors, but when she followed Vidal into the room, to actually make contact with the ghost, she was one of the three people who could see her clear as day. Black hair, swept back in a low pony-tail, wearing a traditional house dress of the 1800s. She stared at the group with a stern expression on her face. While Vidal and another man asked questions, the ghost just sat there, staring at them. When they began asking questions regarding her family, her expression changed, and she looked down sadly. Then, suddenly disappeared. A couple people could still faintly feel her prescence- Mireya could not.

	Since ~~then~~, Mireya had been ~~bitten~~. She dove further into the paranormal than before, and soon found herself researching the occult, ghosts, and other supernatural beings. After doing some research at the town's registrar, they learned she was a helpless woman who was killed maliciously in front of her children. Since her presence in the bedroom was only a presence, no physical activity, it was determined that the woman was not a hostile spirit, and the inn's guests shouldn't worry. They recommended that the inn-keepers advertise the room as a specialty room, so people who don't feel comfortable around ghosts won't have a run-in with her. As a thank-you, the innkeepers decided to reward the ghost hunters with not only the reward payment, but also a box of jewels that was kept in the room where the spirit had been seen. The group initially declined such a gracious offer, not only because it could be expensive that the innkeepers are giving up, but because the jewels belonged to the ghost herself. The innkeeper insisted, and a compromise was struck. Each member of the group would take one piece of jewelry each. Mireya was drawn to a ruby pendant.

			Oddly enough, since their work there, the ghost had never been seen again.

			Ever since, Mireya was hooked. She dove further into the paranormal than before, and soon found herself researching the occult, ghosts, and other supernatural beings. With Vidal as her mentor, she had more doors and opportunities to explore her new-found passion than before.

	It was so prominent that her parents couldn't ignore it any longer, and gave her the ultimatum- give it up, or be disowned. Mireya couldn't discount the things she had learned, the things she had witnessed... and, so, she let her parents go. As well as her academic career. ==Beginnings and Childhood ==
The daughter of a Catholic pastor on a small Spanish Island, Mireya grew up memorizing all of the Catholic stories. That's why, whenever young Mireya would see things, people from the past, hanging around her island, she would just think it was her imagination, bringing her history and bible lessons to life.

As she grew older, she learned differently. In her middle years, she would tell her mother what she saw, and while her mother wasn't as devout as her father was, she did not like hearing the stories her daughter was telling and would often pass it off as a wild imagination. The things she saw around the island were never harmful, just relics of a time gone by, so she never felt the need to claim they were dangerous... and she never mentioned them to her father, who never had much of a tolerance for different things in the first place.

It should be noted that while her father was intolerant of many things, including different cultures, his wife and Mireya's mother, is an American who met him on a trip to the island. Though she was different, her devout Catholic faith helped him see past their differences. Catholicism is perhaps the one thing that could change his mind, about anything.

As such, Mireya eventually learned to keep her sightings to herself. Unfortunately, the inability to relate her true experiences with her parents caused a rift.

As she grew in age, and was trusted to be out more, Mireya would wander the island, mostly the town and surrounding land where she lived. Many of the visions of the past she saw always stayed the same, like an old man fishing by the rocks. Others would come and go, as if drawn by date or weather, like the children climbing a tree, in the middle of the port. Occasionally, and Mireya didn't realize this until she was in her mid-teens, the visions of the past would change, and would notice her presence as well. Still swayed by her Catholic upbringing, she continued to keep it all to herself.

==Beginning to Understand==

Ibiza is a tourist island, so when Mireya hit 18, she went out with some friends and hit up some of the local clubs.

In one of the clubs, she didn't party or dance like her friends were. Instead, she was shocked that as soon as they entered the building, there was a murder happening in the middle of the dance floor.. and everyone was dancing around it! She just stared, unable to say a word. Her friends just laughed it off, thinking she was so unused to the atmosphere, that she was using exaggerations when she said that there was murder on the dancefloor. They left her so she could come to her senses at her own time. Then, someone whispered into her ear, "I see it, too."

That night, Mireya found a kindred spirit, another man who was able to see ghosts and spirits just like her. He was some retail shop owner from the mainland, out with his friends for a bachelor party weekend, but, like her, he was able to see the spirits of the dead left behind. The two went off to the side, and discussed her abilities- she had no one else to ask, so she picked his brain all night long. He didn't have very many answers, but he was more than happy to share his theories, and the two swapped stories about the different encounters, or visions, they had had.

Following that evening, Mireya tried to devote more time to studying the local spirits, as she now called them. She started with some of the more prominent spirits, and attempted to research them in local libraries and registrars. By doing this, she was able to learn more about some of the spirits that inhabited the island. Others still remained a mystery.

By doing this, she also accidentally learned how to coax some spirits to the world beyond. It happened when she found the fisherman-ghost's identity, and went down to the rocks to meet him. She asked, "Why are you still here, Pablo?" He looked at her, with a confused look on his face, and faded away. That was the last time she saw him.

That was also her last year in Ibiza.

Throughout her journeys, she would come to learn some basic methods of "handling" the spirits she was dealing with, from items, to spells, and other tactics as learned by her partners, or through self-learned lessons. On one particularly harrowing investigation, she learned that her ruby pendant actually was the host of a spirit itself!

After a particularly daunting trip into the Astral Plane, she was contacted by a man named LaCroix, with an invitation to join a group called PARADIGM. While reluctant at first, she joined, hoping that her involvement in the group would provide more oppurtunities than operating freelance would.
